I'm 3 Months Old!

Today my precious daughter turned THREE months old! It is hard to believe that three months have gone by, yet I can not remember life without her.

Waverly sleeping in...

Waverly has grown so much! She now weighs in at over 12 pounds. She can wear just about any 3-6 month old clothing, but some 6 month old clothes fit her well too. It just depends on the outfit and brand.

Waverly is doing many new things too. She is learning everyday and it is so wonderful to get to see that happening. She has made the most enchanting discovery - her hands! She will look at her little hand and wiggle her fingers, then bring her hands together and lock them up tight. She also likes to bring them to her mouth and have a little taste, which means that Mommy is often washing the baby's hands! She will often reach out, trying to make her hand go where she wants it. Much of the time now, she will make contact with a toy. She is also very good at pulling hair and grabbing hold of Mommy's shirt so she is certain that I'm not going anywhere.

Focused on a new toy - trying to figure it out...

Playtime - working with her hands and watching the mobile.

Waverly was all smiles this morning... I think she likes her hair bow!

Waverly loves to coo and goo. She makes a wet razzing sound that seems to amuse her, and still her favorite phrase is "I Good". Sometimes when she is fussy, she will say what seems to me to be "I Green". It is adorable!
'
Waverly is doing well at her daycare. She loves all of her teachers and just lights up for Ms. Sandra. Waverly spends time every day in the floor playing with her friends, in her bouncy chair and being held and rocked. She has also done better this past week sleeping in her crib! This is a good step in the right direction, since she had been fighting naps while at daycare. Thanks to a fuzzy blanket that Daddy bought for her, she seems to be sleeping better.
'
Waverly is just wonderful and we are enjoying her every second!!!

Working hard

We just can't resist letting Waverly try out her exer-saucer, though she is still too tiny to sit up in it well. Mamaw has a nice fluffly towel that does the trick. Waverly loves all the toys and activities.

Of course, she likes to smile up at her family when she is playing too, just to make sure she is the center of attention.

Our little one is very determined. This particular toy on the exer-saucer makes noises and talks when you push buttons or flip the pages on a book. Waverly concentrates so hard, trying to get that little hand to reach out there and touch the buttons. Her face just lights up when she makes contact and sets the bells and whistles off. She works so hard!

Storms of Play Time

What an interesting weekend!
On Thursday night, I started feeling bad so I limited time spent with Miss Waverly. By Friday morning, I felt very ill, so I skipped telling my little one good-bye before she was off to day care. Daddy took her to Papaw's, where I hear she had a great morning cooing and gooing and providing prime entertainment for her Mamaw and Papaw. She had a good day at day care, but I missed her so much! I was so glad to see her when she got home on Friday afternoon! We took a little nap together and just enjoyed each other's company for awhile.

'

Later on Friday night, the storms really blew in! There was even a tornado warning issued for our area for about an hour or so. Waverly napped through the all the thunder and lightening, but Daddy and I stood on the porch watching for awhile. The hail was really a sight to see - at one time, we had hail the size of quarters! We took a little trip next door, just in case the storm was bad enough to need a basement. It wasn't long before we went back home to snuggle down for the night, safe and sound.

Waverly tricked Mamaw on Saturday into thinking she was going to take a little snooze. As soon as she laid Waverly down though, those sparkly eyes opened wide. She really enjoyed her tummy time, with Daddy right beside her and Mommy providing different toys. She loves the bright colors of her keys. She is such a hoot to watch when she gets the pacifier in sight, known to us as a "Plug", and starts fishing around with her mouth until she finds it.

It didn't take long and she was all tuckered out again! All of that play is hard work!

Here she is enjoying her snuggle time with her Daddy.

Waverly has really been 'talking' up a storm! She is started to gurgle, too. Still, her favorite phrase, and ours, is "I Good". I love all of the sweet sounds she makes. She will talk to her stuffed animals and toys, but she loves to talk to her family especially.

Waverly was all smiles this morning! We gave her the tiniest bite of cereal last night and that seemed to fill her tummy for a good night sleep. She is starting to really enjoy the toys that come with her bouncy seat (Thanks, Julie!). One is a little mirror shaped like a lady bug, then there is a star and a rattle. She tries to reach out and grab the toys, and is so delighted when she makes contact.

We had such a nice weekend together. Its hard to believe that our little one is almost 3 months old! Time is flying by, yet I can't remember life without her. We just love our little girl!

Up on the stage!

Thursday night was Kindergarten and First Grade graduation at Waverly's day care center. Obviously, Waverly isn't ready for her own graduation quite yet, but we attended to support her older friends. Waverly and her friends participated in the program and everyone was very well behaved.
'
Waverly sat on the stage in her bouncy chair and looked out at the crowd. She wore her big hair bow and was all dressed up. One of the 'graduates' read a story to Waverly and her classmates. It was very sweet.

Listening to the story.

Waverly sat in her bouncy chair while one of her friends played in the exer-saucer. One of the little boys in Waverly's class demonstrated all that he had learned, including some colors, shapes and he showed everyone where his ears, eyes and nose were.
'
Each classroom had nice things to share, including songs, scriptures, language and math problems. I was impressed with how much all the students knew. It was a nice graduation celebration!
'
Waverly received a nice certificate for her successful participation at the ceremony. Needless to say, mommy and daddy are super proud of our little one!

All better!

Why does Mommy keep taking pictures of me? Enough is enough!

Yesterday was a busy day for us! Waverly got to play hooky from day care since Mommy had taken off work. I woke up with a very swollen and painful right eye, so it was off to the doctor we go! Papaw Dean came early to pick us up since my eye hurt and I couldn't see very well. We went to the doctor, who referred us to the eye doctor, who said that I had a bacterial infection in my right eye. It could possibly infect my left eye, too. After some magic steroid eye drops, it was feeling less painful. I had a prescription filled for other drops to use at home and it is much better now.
'
Waverly's eyes were watery and she still sounded stuffy, so Papaw took us to see the Pediatrician yesterday too. We saw Dr. Blair, who was mommy and daddy's pediatrician when we were little too! Dr. Blair gave Waverly a thorough exam, listening to her lungs and checking her eyes and ears. He pronounced her perfect, with a touch of seasonal allergies. He prescribed an antihistamine for her to take, just to help her out with the symptoms a bit. Dr. Blair was impressed with how strong Waverly is - she did not want to turn her head to let him see in her ear! He also said that she was full of personality, and she gave him a big grin and started talking away to him. Our little jumping bean weighed in at 11 pounds, 15.5 ounces!
'
After a full day of doctor visits and the pharmacy, Waverly and I were ready for a nap. Mamaw Gail came to visit and Waverly talked to her for a long time! It was so good to see my mom for a little while. She read Waverly a picture book and they played together while I rested my eye for a bit.
'
Later on, it was off to Mamaw and Papaw's for dinner. I am so proud of my little one. She had a big accomplishment last night. Mamaw Jean always plays with a Winnie the Pooh rattle for Waverly, holding it so she can see it and listen to the crunchy sound. Waverly has been trying to touch it for a few days now, but last night, she just reached out and grabbed it out of Mamaw's hand! We were so surprised! I think Waverly was a little surprised, too! It wasn't long before she had guided the rattle right into her mouth.
'
Very tired...
'
'
I like my medicine!

Really? Off to daycare? Ok then!

Laughing Out Loud

We had a great weekend with Waverly. Here are some photos of her laughing and smiling!

With her daddy! I love these ruffled pants!

Something sure was funny! Maybe Axel?

Watching TV with Daddy... the history channel no doubt!

Laughing at Papaw! He can always make me smile.

Talking to Mamaw!

My first go in the exer-saucer!
She's still too little, but we couldn't resist trying it out!
She really enjoyed all the colors and toys around her.
I think in another month or so, she will love her exer-saucer!

Mamaw had some new toys for Waverly. She really likes the rattles and noisy toys. We think she was a little frustrated with the wrist rattles! She wanted to grab hold of it so bad! She is a very determined little girl, so it wont be long before those hands go right where she wants them to.

No Boys Allowed!

Girls Only shopping trip!

On Saturday, Waverly and I went shopping with our friend Laura. We had the best time! Waverly was in a good mood all day and was very content while we shopped. We went to several places, but Waverly most enjoyed our venture into Carter's. There were so many cute outfits for her! I made it out the door with only two new outfits and I just can't wait for warmer weather so she can wear them out.
Of course, Waverly had to give in to all the hustle and bustle and take a little nap here and there. She was a real trooper and allowed Laura and I a good visit. This was mommy's first trip out with the stroller, though we had used it much at home! I was glad to have Laura's help with the baby while shopping. Waverly was such a good girl all day!

Later, at home, Waverly was really enjoying watching Survivor on TV! She is my TV baby, for sure!

Waverly's First Boo-Boo

Sneaking a nap in the bouncy chair at day care

Well, we all knew it was coming! All babies are going to have a boo-boo at some time or other. Luckily, Waverly's first boo-boo was just a little scratch on her neck. When I picked her up from day care on Thursday, she was just as happy as she could be. I love seeing her in a good mood. I handed her over to Papaw for a hug and noticed a scratch on the back of her neck. We think the Velcro on one of the bibs caused the scratch. A little neosporin and air, and she was better in no time!

Splish, Splash, I was takin' a bath...

We try to give Waverly a bath at least every other night. She really likes her bath time! She was in a particularly good mood yesterday.

Getting ready to take a bath!

C'mon Mommy, where's the water?

Ah, relaxtion!

So Content...

Waverly is growing so fast! When we first brought her home, we gave her sponge baths until she lost her umbilical cord. Then, she graduated to using the bath chair seen in the above pictures. It resembles a beach chair and fits perfectly in the sink. A few weeks ago, we began using the yellow tub in the double sink, with a sling that supports her wiggly body. Now she is too big for the swing, yet to0 little for the plastic tub, so we resorted to using the chair again. She likes to dangle her legs in the water!

Check out my curly hair! Just like mommy!

Fresh and Clean... for a few minutes at least!

Tummy Time!

Woo-hoo! This is fun!

If there was a way to post a smell to the blog, I would definetly post the clean baby smell. It's just wonderful! Unfortunately, the smell of the perfumed shampoo and soap is fleeting. I can't help sniff up the baby for a couple hours after each bath! She usually gets all warm and snuggly after her bath, and we have a great time cuddling before bed. We love bath nights!

Mommy's First Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all mom's everywhere! This is such a special day and I was delighted to share my first mother's day by spending time with my little one.

Trying to talk to Mommy?

A little tired!

Daddy, Mommy and Waverly

On Sunday morning, Waverly and I played a little trick on Mamaw Gail. I had told Mom that I wanted Mother's Day to just be Waverly and I, so she planned to stay at home on Sunday. I talked to her for awhile, but she didn't know that Waverly and I were on our way to her home to surprise her! Uncle Matt came too, and she was really surprised! We enjoyed our visit with Mom and Gary. I hope she enjoyed her Mother's Day, too.
Later on, we had dinner with Mamaw Jean. She just cuddled with Waverly, who was getting tired, and rocked her to sleep for a little while. We just love getting to visit and enjoy all the good food.
We still have one more Mother's day visit, to Grammy Betty. We will get by to see her soon.
I truly enjoyed my first mother's day. Dean had a special present for me. He had this very blog printed into a beautiful hard cover book, from the beginning of the blog through Waverly's birthday. We plan to have a book made each year for her birthday, so she will have her very own yearbooks!
I also received a card from my mom, who wrote it on behalf of little Waverly. It was so sweet! Waverly made mommy a special present at daycare. It is a canvas picture frame decorated with her pink and purple hand prints, with a picture of her smiling. Everything was so special!

My First Friend

Last night, Waverly and I had a great time at dinner with mommy's friend, Samantha, and her 8-month-old daughter, Roxy. This visit has been a long time coming, so it was wonderful to finally get together.

Roxy, all smiles!

I was so excited to see Roxy. It was the first time I got to hold her. She is so cuddly and sweet. I was proud of her, since she is at that age where she is spoiled to her mommy but she let me hold her for a little bit.

Waverly woke up for a little while and Samantha got to hold her, too! She was in a good mood. It was so much fun to get our girls together and introduce them. I can just see them playing on the floor together, having little tea parties and playing dress-up!

Waverly, all tuckered out...

The girls were on their best behavior, so Samantha and I were able to not only eat dinner, but squeeze in a chat too. Roxy wanted to join the conversation, just babbling away. Soon, Waverly started cooing too. It was like they were talking to each other! So cute!

Little Sniffles

This past weekend, we all had much fun at a sneak preview of GattiTown in Frankfort. All the employees from Dean's work were invited for free pizza and games as part of a test run for the new restaurant. We had a good time visiting, though the line for food was just too long. It was still a good way to spend a rainy day.

Waverly hanging out in her car seat

Waverly slept awhile but then woke up to visit with everyone. We were glad to see Papaw Allen and Grammy Betty, plus Aunt Amy had brought Tanner along too!

Tanner, enjoying his lunch!

After all the rain we had this weekend, poor little Waverly had a stuffy nose. It seemed to be only stuffy at night and in the early morning, so we cranked the humidifier up. Last night, we gave her some 'little noses' saline solution, just one drop. Though that wasn't the most fun for her or us, it did help and she slept through the night. Her stuffy nose is getting much better!

Staring down the puppy dogs...
