Sweet Baby at 4 Months Old

Waverly turned 4 months old yesterday! Simply stated, she is wonderful.

Tummy Surfing!

Waverly can support herself so well now.

She will be crawling before we know it!

My new teething ring!

We had a visit from the teething fairy! That's right - at four months old, Waverly is drooling and biting on everything to bring those sore gums a little relief. She is rarely fussy, but teething has definitely begun. She is doing very well, though, with little fever or other teething side effects.

I'm supposed to be sleeping!

It's a good thing I'm so cute!

V.B.S.

On Saturday, Waverly and I attended the Vacation Bible School program at Christian Assembly Church. This was a special trip into mommy's memory, as I used to go to church here for many years with my grandmother. My favorite time of year was always bible school. I would stay with Aunt Bonnie or sometimes, my Great Aunt Martha and Uncle Charles. I remember having the best of times with my family and then going to vbs every night with my friends.

Aunt Bonnie and Waverly
This year's theme was western and Aunt Bonnie's classroom was well-decorated. She had a saddle, fireplace and guitar. I remember well how I would look forward to vbs each year. I loved the crafts (and still have a couple of things I made) and music. This year, Cousin Heather made a prayer journal and a wind chime.
Heather also sang a solo in the program and played the trumpet (my favorite!). Little Waverly wanted to participate too, and "sang" while the other children were singing. She was so good throughout the program, but was getting a little antsy in the middle. She listened so intently to Heather's solo and then it was off to the beautiful newly furnished nursery for a little "mommy and me" time!

It was wonderful to see all my extended family and introduce Waverly. We also visited with Uncle Charles and Jim and Faye (Heather's paternal grandparents). Miss Waverly loves Jim now, since he taught us a new trick - a pacifier dipped in ice water is great for teething gums! She fell asleep when Jim was holding her and was mad when it was time to go home. Poor little Waverly - she will want to visit again soon!

I'm a big kid now!

Waverly is growing everyday, both in size and intelligence. She goes to the doctor soon for a well check and I am anxious to know her height and weight. Depending on the brand, she is wearing 3-6 month old clothes right now. She is a good little model and dress up is Mommy's favorite game.

Holding my own bottle!

A new toy! Waverly is not choosy about what she plays with, though she is gathering quite the collection of toys. She loves her keys and rattles, but this bottle cap held her attention as well. Daddy made special labels for her bottles to take to daycare. They have her name of course, but also little pictures, like this one with a baby and bottle.

Papaw had a good shopping day last week and now Waverly has a high chair. Of course, our little girl needs a little help with a fluffy towel, but she is doing well as a supported sitter. Mamaw fed her cereal and she is doing great, leaning toward the spoon and trying to 'help' by grabbing the spoon herself. Waverly works hard at perfecting those motor skills; as she almost always gets those tiny hands where she wants them. She can even take her pacy, aka "plug", in and out of her mouth with her hands now.

Waverly is a very inquisitive little one. She is never timid or shy about trying something new and receives many praises at daycare for her willingness for new experiences. She now spends time almost every day in a walker or exersaucer. Though not quite tall enough to reach the floor, she does good with a little help from a pillow under her feet and gets lots of exercise for those adorably chubby legs.
After a full day of fun at daycare, Waverly took a little cat nap in the romp room while waiting for Mommy to pick her up.

Waverly still enjoys her tummy time and impresses all with her strength. She is now able to bear some weight on her arms and prop herself up for a good look around. I love her confidence and how proud she seems of her accomplishments.

She is very adored, that's for sure!

Daddy's Day

Happy First Father's Day!

Waverly is such a lucky girl to have the best daddy. He takes good care of her and loves to play and talk with her. Waverly is also just a touch spoiled - with just the tiniest touch, look or sound, she has daddy wrapped around her little finger!

I love my daddy!

Snuggling before bedtime.
Dean spent his first Father's day at home with us. He had some things to do during the day, so he was out and about in the garage and working on the house some. Waverly enjoyed cuddling with him before bed though!
Who's got you?
Earlier, we visited Papaw for Father's Day, t0o. Waverly showed him her new trick of rolling over. She ate all her cereal like a big girl and then it was cuddles for her Paw.

Awwww! So Sweet!

On Friday before Father's Day, Waverly and I visited Papaw Allen for a big cookout. Waverly loved playing with Papaw and seeing all the family.

Laughing at Papaw Allen.

It was baby central. Waverly was glad to see Tanner and his little friends, Anna and Garret. Papaw Burriss was there for a visit, too!

Rolling Over

Today Waverly rolled over all by herself! From her belly to her back, she just flipped right over!

Working hard!

Let's show off for that camera!

Almost there...

I made it!

Don't I look proud of myself?

'Reaching' New Milestones

This weekend was fairly busy for our little family. On Friday, we had Waverly's 3 month old pictures taken. She was our little drama queen, posing and being her adorable self. I think she likes being the center of attention!

Friday night, we got to try out her new toy! Waverly loves her play mat, with dangling rattles and toys that detach for tummy time. She is partial to the mirror, which is to be expected since she loves all shiny things.

On Saturday, Waverly and I had dinner with some family for Aunt Amy's birthday. It was so great to see every one and to have the babies get together. Tanner is getting to be a big boy, sitting in his high chair and eating some of his mommy's vegetables. He really likes to give kisses, and even sneaked one to Waverly before we left! So precious!

After dinner, Waverly and I were off to my cousin's baby shower. She is expecting a little girl, Helena Rose, to be born at the end of this month. Helena has big sister Delilah and big brother James to play with her. Delilah just loved Waverly! She kept giving her big hugs!

Visiting with Mamaw Gail

On Saturday night, Waverly surprised Mamaw Jean and I with her first real laugh! I think she even surprised herself a little. Mamaw was playing with her with a stuffed animal and she just loved that puppy dog! After some big smiles, we heard the most wonderful tinkling laughter! I stopped what I was doing and looked at Mamaw and we both were just tickled! Waverly makes the most wonderful sounds; we are thrilled to add laughter to her repertoire.

Playing with my toy again!

All smiles

Later on Saturday night, Waverly got to meet her great-papaw for the first time. Blan had been around to visit and was excited to see his great-granddaughter. After a little family visit, he had to be on his way.
Waverly also had another big milestone this past weekend. On Saturday, Papaw was holding her and she saw me and reached out for me to hold her. It was the sweetest thing!!! She can just melt my heart. She has since reached out for Mamaw and Papaw and Daddy. Even last night, daddy put her to bed and she was trying to give him a hug. She is wonderful!

Picture Perfect!
