My New Ride

Cute and I know it!
Waverly is such a little ham! She had just awoken from a nap here and was all smiles and silliness. Her favorite game is patty-cake now. She loves for you to help her clap her hands and toss it in the pan!
Waverly also loves peek-a-boo. We have to keep a close eye on her now because she likes to hide in the covers and then peek out at you. She giggles when you say peek-a-boo. She is super smart too. She knows when you leave the room and will chase you around in her walker. She wants so much to crawl. She can get her legs up in the air and cover some ground that way, but she drags her belly along. It wont be long and she'll really be crawling.
Trying out my new car seat...
Waverly has outgrown her infant car seat! At six months old, she weighs in at roughly 19 pounds. Mamaw and Papaw bought Waverly this great new car seat. They wanted to ensure that Waverly was riding around in comfort and style - this car seat has arm rests and a cup holder! It's made by Safety First, so our little girl is as safe as she can be on all of our travels.

This morning, Waverly said "Hi" for the first time. Ms. Sandra was holding her for a minute while Mommy made her bed at day care. When I turned around, I said "Hi, baby, Hi" and she just looked up at me and said "Hi". It was very sweet!

My 1/2 Birthday!

Happy 1/2 Birthday, Waverly!

Today, our wee one turns 6 months old! It is difficult to believe our sweetie is that old now. It seems like just yesterday, she was born.

At 6 months old, Waverly can do all kinds of tricks. She can blow raspberries, pass objects between her hands, reach for a toy and (almost) wave bye-bye. She is trying very hard to learn to crawl and can scoot around on her tummy and her back. She uses her feet to push off with and then really gets going. If she could only get her tummy off the ground, she'd be really getting somewhere!

Waverly's first bite of Veggies.

Last night, Waverly had her first bite of vegetables. While she was eating her cereal, I gave her a taste of squash. She wasn't sure what to make of it at first. Her expression was priceless.

Hmmm, that's new!

After getting a good taste, she decided that she liked it and just couldn't wait for the next bite. She was chasing the spoon around!

In just a minute, she was lapping it up just like a little kitten! Welcome to the world of veggies, my dear. It's all fun from here!

After her dinner, Waverly was of course in need of a good bath! She has learned that she can splash and play in the water now. She has a great time getting Mommy and Daddy all wet.

Waverly will smack the water spray and then it goes everywhere. She doesn't even mind water on her face. It wont be long before her baths in the sink will end and she'll be in a baby tub. For now, we are still enjoying the ease of bathing in the sink.

Oooooh, I like it!
Waverly giggles with each splash!

As past of her night time routine, Waverly knows that bath time is shortly followed by bed time. She is so happy in the tub and then almost as soon as she's clean, she is rubbing those beautiful blue eyes, ready to snuggle down for the night. She has been sleeping really well and rarely wakes up in the middle of the night. She likes cuddling close to Mommy and Daddy. If one of us is out of reach, she just scoots and squishes closer!

This morning, I gave Waverly a little present to celebrate her 1/2 birthday in style. She got a new "plug". It's adorably decorated in pink camo. She wasn't sure what to make of a new plug at first, since she is partial to the Mams. It at least makes a good new toy!

On my way to daycare...
Mommy decorated Waverly's daily paperwork at daycare with stickers and drawings, just to let the ladies know that it was Waverly's special day! She was greeted with smiles and hugs this morning. I'm sure she'll have a great day!

Puppy Love

Good Morning, Beautiful!
Every morning is a wonderful morning when you wake up to such a beautiful, endearing child.
Waverly almost always wakes up happily, ready for a cuddle and a smile.

Nap Time!
I'm a drama queen even in my sleep - I love to pose!

Chillin'
Waverly has quite a collection of little toys now. She loves the books with the crinkly pages and bright pictures. She also loves her first doll, her first bear and all her stuffed animals. She now has two cell phones to play with and a ton of rattles, keys, and squeakers. Still, her favorite toy, Daddy's tv remote!
Daddy and Waverly, All Smiles

Waverly letting Axel lick her hand.
Waverly for sure loves her animals! She is something else when you get her around the puppies. Axel, our huge German Shepherd, is wonderful with her. Waverly will pull his hair and he just lays there and takes it! Of course, he had a little practice before Waverly our little puppy, Crissy. Now he just loves to say hi to Waverly. She just smiles and giggles and reaches out to pet the puppies. She likes to pull on Crissy's big ears and shriek to get her attention. So much fun...
Waverly just discovered this apple toy on her exercauser. When you push a button, a little toy pops up and says "Hello!" She loves it!
I can't wait to get her a jack-in-the-box now!

Sealed With A Kiss

Teething, are we?
Waverly can now say "Da-Da"! She was just babbling along and in the middle of her "Blah, blah, blah", she said "Dada!". I can't wait for her to reach out to Daddy and call him "Dada".
Included in the big news of this week, there has been a big change for Mommy and Waverly. For the past 4 months, I have gone almost every day at lunch to see Waverly at day care. We both enjoyed so much our special mommy and me time. Since Waverly is a big girl now, she can have her cereal at lunch time. So, Mommy no longer comes by to see her at lunch time. Waverly has done great, but Mommy misses her terribly! There are too many hours in the work day...
Last night, Waverly and I visited Mamaw Jean for our annual canning session! That's right, folks, its Salsa Time! Waverly played in the kitchen while Mamaw and Mommy chopped tomatoes, onions and peppers. Waverly loved hearing the canning rings jingle when dropped on the floor. She also got to hear the "POP", as the cans sealed.

Waverly helped!
I can almost reach that ring!
I got it!

Before we knew it, we had 28 half pints of salsa! Yummy!

Waverly loves her new baby doll! She gives it hugs and kisses. I let her take it with her to daycare and she gets to snuggle with her baby doll during naps.

Summer Colds

Mommy and Waverly both have yucky summer colds! The sore throat, sneezing, coughing and 'oh, I just don't feel good' kind of colds. Good news for Mommy and Daddy, though; Waverly is such a happy child that unless you know her very well, you could never tell that she is sick! She just smiles and giggles anyway!

Yesterday, I stayed home with Waverly and took her to see the pediatrician in the early afternoon. She weighed in at 18 pounds 8.5 ounces! My little chunky monkey sure is growing! Dr. Parker said that though Waverly does have a little cough, its nothing to be overly concerned about. Its just a touch of a summer cold, which they are seeing a lot of lately. There are no medicines that they will give such a young child, so the only tips he had for us were lots of tummy time and saline nose spray.
Up close and personal!
Mommy had her own idea of some feel better remedies, including a warm bath, a new humidifier filter and lots of cuddle time with Mommy and Daddy. Waverly hasn't had a fever, so she was all ready to return to day care.
Oh, happy girlie!
We're going to start calling her the big faker. She giggles too much to really be sick!

Double the Fun!

Sunday was a party day! All of Mommy's friends came over to Mamaw's house for a PartyLite party. There were many pretty things to see and Waverly was such a happy girl! She played on her tummy while Mamaw and Mommy baked some yummy treats. She played with her Aunt Re and taught her some peek-a-boo!

Little Miss-chevious!

I love my Tummy Time!

Once the show began, Waverly drifted off to sleep. She loved being rocked by her Mamaws!

Mamaw Gail held the sleepy girl during the show.

Later, sleeping while Mamaw Jean rocked her.

Aunt Phyllis was so happy to visit with Waverly,
as were Rachel, Sheila and Cheyenna!

After the PartyLite show, we had a big birthday party. Several of our family members celebrate birthdays in August. Mamaw, Papaw, Aunt Sarah and Aunt Christy and cousin Zachary!

Waverly playing with Papaw.

Mamaw Jean made this toy for her, a homemade rattle, from a small coffee can with a handful of pennies. Waverly will push the can and then scoot until she reaches it again.

Aunt Sarah - being funny!

Uncle Josh lit the Birthday candles and it was a joyous rendition of Happy Birthday!
We all had cake and ice cream. It was great to see my nephews and it was their first time meeting Waverly. What a nice evening!
Happy Birthday, All!

What happens at Grandma's, stays at Grandma's

What happens at Grandma's, stays at Grandma's...

Unless she shows you the pictures!

Waverly visited with Mamaw Jean last night for awhile. It sure looks like she had a great time!

Finding creative new toys...

Hello, Mamaw!

I think I can, I think I can...
Reach the plants!

After a couple of hours, Mommy came back and Waverly was happy to see her. She had so much fun with Mamaw. All too soon, it was night time and the wee one was ready for bed. Can't wait for next time!

Sittin' Pretty

Waverly is working very hard at learning to sit up. Her balance has improved so much just over the last week! She stays upright for a good few minutes now, and usually topples over as she is reaching for a new toy or her favorite play thing - her foot!

Ms. Sandra is very creative and has all kinds of tricks up her sleeve. At day care on Tuesday, she had Waverly sitting upright with two boppy pillows to help stabilize her. Waverly is a sneaky little girl though, and can wiggle right out. She likes to turn herself over to her tummy and then scoot along to reach the toy basket.

Sittin' Pretty

I found a bracelet - all by myself!

Waverly was very interested in helping mommy with chores last night. While I was folding and putting away the laundry, she collected all the socks. Now if only she could pair them up...

Helping Mommy

My teething baby...
Waverly is certainly teething. Always amid the drool is her big smile.
I wonder when that first tooth will be in!
