Shop, Shop!

Wednesday night, Daddy, Mommy and Waverly had to "shop, shop"!

Waverly loves to go to any kind of store.  She likes to look at everything and she loves to put items in the cart.
Here she just had to blow some kisses to the baby in the mirror...
And then some kisses to Mommy and Daddy...

And then she helped Mommy mark off the items we had on the list...
Waverly especially likes to go shopping with Daddy... she can sweet talk him into letting her walk run around the store and choose grab things off of the shelves.  She actually behaves quite well and listens to Daddy when he tells her to stop or come back toward us.  She doesn't get too far away!

Checking out the wind chimes!
While Mommy waited in the check out lane, Daddy and Waverly went to read magazines and books.  Waverly helped Daddy choose a couple of truck magazines, and then she got to carry the bag all by herself!

She thought that she was a "good girl" to be such a big helper while we "shop, shop"!

Grandparents are Great!

Waverly sure was a lucky girl last night!  It might as well have been grandparents day, because she got to see Mamaw Gail, Papaw Dean and Mamaw Jean!

Waverly thought she was something special to get a big gulp from Mommy's water cup...
Of course, she thought it was "coke" or "tea".  She sure was surprised when she realized it was just water!  But she didn't mind; she was happy to have the big cup with a straw!

Waverly likes to pretend cough now, especially if she takes a big drink.  She thinks its funny to hold her arms up, something we have taught her to do to clear her airway.  This always results in several fake coughs and raising her hands now!

After playtime with Mamaw Gail, we all went next door to see Papaw Dean and Mamaw Jean.  Waverly was tickled to show Mamaw Gail her toys there.

She was also quite happy to find a new coloring book!  It was of her favorite character now, Dora the Explorer, known to us as Door-ra-ra-ra!

After dinner, Waverly insisted that we all color with her!  She is easy to please, since we all like spending time with her.  It was a great day for grandparents!

27 Weeks

We've made it to 27 weeks!
This is the last week of the 2nd trimester, so we are about to hit another milestone!

Baby Bean is just kicking away in his happy home, too!  He sure is active now-a-days!
Baby Bean weighs up to 2.5 pounds by now, about the size of a head of cauliflower.   He's not just getting bigger, he's getting smarter, too!  This week, Baby Bean is showing brain activity and he will keep developing more and more!

Mom is doing as well as can be expected.  This pregnancy has been very different than the first.  With sciatic nerve pain and pelvic pain, getting around isn't the most fun!  Let's just hope I don't have to go anywhere fast!  Otherwise, Mom is starting to feel some braxton hicks contractions and all the other fun side effects of pregnancy.

On a positive note, the gestational diabetes class was a fast course since I had already participated just last year.  The nutritionist reviewed my diet and my daily log of glucose tests.  We agree that as long as candy and cake is taken in moderation, then things should be just fine!

Sunny Day Sunday

Sunday, Mommy and Waverly had a lazy day at home.
We did lots of playing and coloring, of course!

While helping Mommy with our piles of laundry, Waverly took a little break to play trucks...

We played outside with Crissy a little bit and then went back inside for some arts and crafts.

Waverly would color for hours... She is very careful to stay on the paper and she likes to let you choose a different color for her.  We are working hard on learning to recognize the names for the different colors.  She knows blue, green and pink, but we aren't very consistent yet!

After dinner, Waverly insisted that she go for a ride!  Papaw was quick to oblige!

Showing Papaw where to go!

Waverly was exhausted after playing all day!
She has been doing such a great job of laying down by herself to go night-night.  She always has a baby for company, though!

Some would think I posed this picture, but no, that's all Waverly.  She was imitating Mommy and was sure to keep her baby tucked in tight beside her.
Night-night, sweetheart!

My Day with Daddy

Saturday, Daddy kept Waverly so Mommy could go shopping with her girlfriend.
Those two had lots of things to get into...
They colored, and read books, and played outside.  But the highlight of the day for Waverly was playing Daddy's Xbox.

Daddy reported that Waverly especially enjoyed when the remote control would shake and vibrate, meaning that she had started up the chain saw on the game!

I like how she is twisting the remote, really getting into her Xbox now!

After all that gaming, Waverly was ready for a long nap!  Daddy and Waverly zonked out for about 3 1/2 hours!  Then it was off to town for some "fry-fries" and to play outside!  Waverly was all worn out after her day with Daddy, but they sure did have fun!

Quilting Progress

Waverly's quilt is coming along quite nicely!

All the squares have been sewn together, and then Mamaw Jean added the batting and backing.  We pinned everything in place, and I set about tacking each and every square!

After all that tacking, I trimmed the embroidery thread so it would look neat and tidy.  Up next, Mamaw Jean and I will sew the last edge together.

We really appreciate all the wonderful compliments we have received.  I credit my friend for the idea and little push to get me going.  It is worth so much for us to have these memories of Waverly's infancy preserved in something that will mean so much to her!  I love telling everyone about the different outfits, which one was the first I had bought, what she wore the most often and so on.  Its precious, if I do say so myself!

Best Friends

Waverly loves to play with Crissy, our Papillon puppy.
Each day when we get home, we go straight inside to let Crissy out of her room.
Waverly helps Mommy call Crissy to come back in from outside, standing on the edge of the porch, leaning forward and calling "Crissssss-eeeeeee!"  My favorite is when she tells her to "C'mon!".

Waverly's new chore is to help Mommy feed Crissy...
She's a little enthusiastic.
Here she is showing Crissy her food and telling her to come eat!
Crissy was worried because it wasn't in her food bowl, but then she got over it and enjoyed her dinner!

Waverly was super pleased with herself for being such a big help!

A True Sense of Character

Waverly has a special talent...
the ability to make everyone smile!

Waverly is such a character!  She was happy to have dinner out last night, but mostly because she had her very own cup of water with a  straw!

She was quick to finish eating so she could play.  She wanted to run inside, and when Daddy told her to "Come here", she held her arms out and motioned for him to come to her!  That cracked us up!

So Daddy took her outside so she could play before the ride home.  She didn't mind that it was sprinkling rain, either!  She told us that the rain was wet and then went right on running around and looking at everything.  That's our girl!

Our Sympathies

The Lickliter family would like to extend our greatest sympathies to the Willard and Wiley families.  A great man; husband, father, grandfather and friend, will always be remembered.

Wink, Wink

At 26 weeks, Baby Bean continues to range in size from 13.6 to 14.8 inches and up to 2.2 lbs.!
That's still as big as an eggplant!

Baby Bean has grown long eyelashes to bat towards all those lucky girls he will one day flirt with!  He's also busy developing his senses, features and perfecting talents!  Baby Bean's eyes will soon start to open, and he's getting his immune system ready for life on the outside by soaking up all of mom's antibodies.  Baby Bean will be practicing how to breath, too.

Mom too is doing great at 26 weeks!

We, of course, failed the glucose test and now have to be religious about checking sugar two hours after each meal.  Luckily, all tests have been in the normal range (with the exception of the cake we ate on our anniversary!).  On Thursday, I have an appointment to meet with the nutritionist.  Of course, this brings back memories since I went through all of this when I was pregnant with Waverly, as well.

In other news, physical therapy has been helping with my hip and joint pain, no trouble sleeping other than the occasional potty break, and mom and baby seem to be happy growing bigger together!

We are back on the mingle at Tough Cookie Mommy.  If you are visiting, welcome!  Follow me and I'll glady follow back!  Just leave a comment below.

Sunny Days, Weekend of Play!

We had a ball this weekend...
...Literally and figuratively!

Friday night, Mommy and Daddy celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary and Waverly stayed at home with Mamaw and Papaw.  We all had a nice time!  We even saved a bite (just one bite!) of cake for Waverly, so she could celebrate too!

Saturday morning was a special day!  Waverly was invited to visit Roxy at Ballet class.  Waverly was excited to see her friend Roxy, but she was a bit shy at first.  When dance class began, Waverly stayed close to Mommy.  She didn't want to do the stretches, but she did watch the other girls.  While the little ballerinas were warming up, Waverly ran to the door, grabbed our bag and said, "Bye!".  But Mommy did not take the hint that it was time to go, and we went back to watch the girls dancing.

It didn't take long before Waverly had warmed up to the group.  She obviously liked the mirrors on the wall.  Instead of learning any dance steps though, Waverly turned into a wild child and preferred running all around the room!  She was practicing her "Go Fast" moves instead of dance or tap!

We were very impressed with Roxy, though!  She has been to several dance lessons by now, and not only looks adorable in her dance outfit, but did a great job practicing all her steps!
It was a bit hectic during dance class, but I managed a few pictures afterwards!
Waverly and Roxy, enjoying a snack break after class!
After a well-deserved nap, Mommy and Waverly visited Mamaw Gail.  We were super lucky to see Go and Uncle Matt, too!  Waverly loves to play at Mamaw's house, up and down the stairs and in the kitchen.

Taste Check!
I think cooking lessons might be more up her alley!

While Waverly was whisking up something yummy, Mamaw made the best fried green tomatoes for us!

Then it was time to play "out side!", so says Waverly!
She loved running around the big back yard, and was happy to put on her "see-sees" (sunglasses).

Later, we told Daddy all about our fun day.  Then Daddy showed us a video from the truck event he had went to.  Waverly loves watching trucks!  It was a great Saturday!

Sunday was our lazy day!
Mommy and Waverly stayed home all day long.  We did our normal laundry and house cleaning, but we managed to get in some quality nap time, too!
We also did lots of coloring and playing with baby dolls on Sunday. It was a nice day to spend at home!

Daddy brought home pizza and then took Waverly for a ride on the four-wheeler.  She was so excited!  We wish everyday was a weekend day...

Our 5th Wedding Anniversary

Today we celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary.
It warms my heart that 5 years ago today, I was lucky enough to marry my best friend.  And today, here we stand, still the best of friends.

Our Wedding Cake

It has been a wonderful five years of marriage.  To show for it, we have a beautiful 18 month old daughter who lights up every room she enters, a baby boy on the way and a wonderful home.  If the next 50 years are as wonderful as the past 5, then I welcome the future with open arms and a happy heart.
