Black and Blue

Waverly's 1st Black Eye...

Poor little Waverly came home the other day with a black eye. She never watches where she is going and fell right over a Magna-doodle on the floor! She only cried a couple minutes, but even after time with the cold boo-boo bunny, she still has a nice shiner!

Uh-oh!

The bumps and bruises of toddler hood are beginning!

Waverly has started watching where she is going more, though...

You can't hardly see the bruise when she puts her spaghetti face on!
One of Waverly's new words is Cow. She loves playing with her Moo Cow that sings songs to her. In this picture she is giving her cow kisses! We are trying to get her to say "Moo Cow", which she does most of the time. Every once in a while, she'll forget and say "Moo Dog", which of course elicits many giggles! Her other new words are 'socks', 'cheese' and 'quack, quack'.

Mamaw Gail visited this week. Waverly showed her how to do art with stickers!

She loves stickers now and they are everywhere!
Yay! Stickers!

While Mamaw Gail and I cooked dinner, we put Waverly in charge of making desert (with assistance, of course!). She chose brownies... with no influence from Mommy either - promise!

She loves to help out in the kitchen!
Stirring, stirring!

Excited for Elli

Mommy's cousin, Katie, is expecting her first baby and...

IT'S A GIRL!

We are all super excited! Josh and Katie have chosen a great name for their little one,

Benelli Rose Mangan.

I think Elli is a cute nickname!

Waverly and I went to Katie's baby shower this past weekend.

She had fun playing with the other little ones there. Waverly loved all the decorations, too.

She kept pointing to the big puffy decorations and saying, "Ball!"

Little Momma Katie with excited Mamaw Angie!

Don't you just love the cake? It was yummy, too!

Waverly enjoyed visiting with Papaw Allen, too.

Mamaw Burriss liked playing with Waverly, and it was really cute when Waverly tried to share her cup!

Katie received a lot of nice baby gifts!

We got her a boppy pillow and slip cover, plus some other little things.

I think she's fully stocked to care for little Elli! Now we just can't wait until she gets here!

A Little Mud on the Tires

Last night, Papaw drove the 4-wheeler over to our house to get something from the barn. Waverly was so excited to see him! She waved her little arm off until we went outside!

Waverly insisted on going for a ride on the 4-wheeler!
That's my little country gal!

She loved it!
Of course, Papaw drove very slow, but she was thrilled!
They went all the way to Aunt Re's house (just down the drive way).
Each time Papaw would park, she'd start babbling away and trying to start the 4-wheeler so they could go again!

Let the ooh's and awww's begin... I got some good pictures out of the moment!
Papaw and his girl!

Allright, Let's Go!

Too busy for sleep!

After all the recent changes for this wee one, sleeping at night has been, well, delayed!
Day light savings time, no more bottles and no more plug... that's a lot for a little one to deal with in a week's time span!
Her revenge? Not going to sleep at bed time!
Though happy, she is so tired! She just fights sleep. Finally, she will just give in and crash, usually around 11:00! That's Mom's bed time!!!

Playing with the kitties to pass the time...

So happy I could burst!

Awww... hold still and let me give you a hug!!!

Yesterday, Mamaw Gail came to visit. We played outside and taught Waverly how to kick the ball. She's pretty good! I see soccer games in the future...
Every now and then, she wants to pick the ball up and carry it around! Then she will try to kick it along.

Waverly is really talking now! She has learned so many new words lately, its hard to keep up!
The list includes: Moo Cow, Mom, Dad, Mamaw, Socks, Juice, and Isty Bitsy (though still a little slurred). She's perfected saying Elmo, too! All afternoon she was yelling "ball!" as she chased it around.

That girl is all about the swing set, too. She loves to swing!
She will grab your finger and pull you toward the swing. I think she'd drag you there if she could!
She will swing for a few minutes and then point to the slide. She is trying to say swing, I think, but it doesn't come out as anything recognizable.
Lovin' the baby talk!

Harley, watching over his little one while taking a break on the porch swing.

Daddy & Me
Back to the swing!
Just one more time?
We successfully wore her out yesterday! After a good meal and a good night story, she was ready for snuggles and fell right asleep!

Slidin' for Kisses

With all this gorgeous weather, we just had to spend time outside!
First up, a trip to see Mamaw Gail! Uncle Matt and Gary were there, too.
Waverly loved exploring! She walked all over the yard and loved playing with all her discoveries!

Is this a new toy? Make it go, Mom!

Found a good place to take a break...
I'll teach Mamaw how to do the Itsy Bitsy Spider!

Playing the upside-down tickle game with Uncle Matt!
Later, we visited Mamaw and Papaw for Sunday night dinner.
Waverly had a blast on her swing set and slide!
I want back up there!

Help, Papaw! Do it again!

Wheeee!
Harley surprised her with a big 'ol kiss when she landed!
She thought that was great!

What sound does a snake make?

Waverly learned this trick the other day!

You'll probably need to pause the music at the bottom of the screen, since it is on auto-play. But, I hope you can hear Waverly's sounds!

Lucky Charms

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!
Last year...

Waverly was this little, just a year ago!!!
Now Look!

Waverly had a lucky day - she even found $20 in Papaw's pocket!

Hi!

Don't you just love her pony tail? Pam was able to get her hair pulled up!
She even had a lucky green bow!

Reading a book with Mommy!

So sweet!

Singing Songs!
My favorites are Itsy Bitsy Spider and Snuggle Puppy!

What a great day!
Hope you had a lucky green day too!

I am NOT a BABY! I am a toddler.

Waverly is plug and bottle free! That's right - she has completely given up the pacifier and bottles! She hasn't had either in days! She now takes a sippy cup just fine and gets mad when you offer the plug. Such a big girl!

Waverly is also no longer going to daycare. Though she will miss her teachers and friends, she gets to see her bestie Roxy more and is having a blast! She has adjusted very easily! I'm so proud of our little one!

Well, Bye-Bye Baby and Welcome Toddler Stages! Temper tantrums and hair pulling?
Ready or Not!

Something 'Bout a Southern Girl

Good weather = plenty of outside time! Waverly loves to be outside!

Waverly is such a fan of animals, especially dogs! She loves her Harley! He is our 8 year old Husky Chow mix, the outside doggy who survives it all. He is such a good pup and loves this baby!
He even tolerates her hugs and kisses! Awww!

Papaw took Waverly to the bull dozer and taught her how to climb! She liked pulling at all the gears and making her truck sounds.

She also got to pretend drive the tractor! She thought that was wonderful! It has a big steering wheel she can turn. Papaw taught her how to "vroom, vroom". This earned him all smiles!

Daddy cleared some of the construction off of the back porch, so Waverly got to play some b-ball too! She chased that ball all over the place. We are teaching her to kick the ball, so maybe some soccer in the future?
Waverly LOVED being outside! She was all about it. I guess Mommy should get used to her being dirty - she was covered in grease and dirt!
That's my little southern girl!

The Horse Named Shoes

Waverly is all about her shoes!

Mommy found several good buys when Waverly and I were out shopping. Mommy's bestie Denise met up with us at the Lil Prince and Princess sale. Waverly chose an Easter dress that she liked. The best buy - new shoes! We all love this little pink crocs, but not as much as Waverly! That girl is all about some shoes!

Waverly's new thing is to walk around in her pink crocs, stopping every few feet to bend over and touch her "shoes". We may have a future shoe addiction!
Waverly is walking all over the place now! Gone are the days of rolling around, scooting and crawling. That girl flat runs!

Waverly can now climb off and on her rocking horse all by herself!
She named him "Shoes", of course!

Her favorite thing to do is climb on, push his ears to make the music go, then rock for a second before climbing off again. Then, Repeat!

Sometimes she sings along with him! This horsey is also special because his mouth moves to the words of his song!
Good Boy, Shoes!
