Through the looking glass...

A local elementary school here is well known
for the exceedingly great job they do with annual musical / theatrical performances.
This year, the play was Alice in Wonderland!

In preparation for the upcoming play, we have been watching Alice in Wonderland.
The kids love Alice!

Today we had breakfast with the characters!

Breakfast was so yummy, and delightfully odd.
We had pancakes and donuts, but also sprinkles, whipped cream,
chocolate chips and giant marshmallows!

We were so excited to see the characters from the movie!

Alice was there, and the March Hare, the White Rabbit,
the Cheshire Cat, and the Queen of Hearts.  We saw the Mad Hatter,
and met the singing flowers!

Waverly colored her picture and wanted to badly to give it to Alice.

All of the characters in the play are 1st-5th graders!
I can not express how impressed I was that these kids stayed in
character all morning long.
Alice love the picture Waverly did for her!

The White Rabbit was very friendly.
He (um, she?  I think the white rabbit was played by a little girl, in this play!)
befriended the kids and introduced them to all the other characters.

Wavy and Harlan watched closely while the
characters performed songs and skits from the play.
It captured their attention, and
remember, these are elementary students!

It was a super fun morning!  Harlan had his face painted and
wasn't so sure what to think of that!

We said goodbye to the guardsmen
and we can't wait to see the play!

Sunny days, Keepin' those clouds away!

Such beautiful weather!

These kids love playing outside,
and on a sunny day,
there's no stopping us!

Of course, Mingya has to join us outside too!

Mommy & Me

Before going to dance class,
Wavy and I enjoyed a quick bite to eat at Taco Bell.
That squishy face is soooo cute!

Bunny Snuggles

Our bunny loves to play outside,
but Wavy doesn't like to put her down for fear that she will bound out of sight.
Mingya doesn't care for carrots, but she loves spinach and any kind of artisan lettuces.
She loves to play and snuggle, too!

Mingya

We adore this bunny!
She is the sweetest little thing.
Wavy has named her Mingya (Min-g-ya).
We don't really know how she came up with that, but
she's set on that being the bunny's name.

Even little Crissy loves Mingya.
They are the best of friends,
playing together and its so fun to watch them.
They play chase and the bunny will actually instigate the game by running back and forth
in front of Crissy to get her attention.

Wavy loves playing mommy to her baby Mingya.....

She holds her, never once has complained
of a scratch, and sings songs to her baby.
She is a very overprotective momma!

A Sticky Easter

Somehow, someway,
Waverly managed to get silly putty stuck in her hair.
The Easter bunny did not see this coming.

In case you're wondering,
getting silly putty out of a child's hair is no easy task.
To her everlasting credit, Wavy did not shed a tear as 4 grown women tried
everything to get this out of her hair.
Picking out silly putty wasn't any easier with heat, nor ice.
Shampoo and/or conditioner and even coconut oil wasn't much help either.
It took patience and fingernails to just
pick out the pieces as best we could.
(After giving up, we decided that it may just wash out after several washes.
This wasn't the case, and we ended up cutting a chunk of hair about an inch or two from the roots.  This is still (as of September!) growing out!)

For her patience, Wavy was awarded a grape Popsicle,
and best of all,
her very own Easter bunny!

Wavy was beyond ecstatic to have her own live rabbit,
and Harlan was just a thrilled with a toy monster truck!

After thoroughly exhausting the poor rabbits,
we let the egg hunt begin!

Never a dull moment at Pappy's house!
The kids found dozens of eggs,
and as always,
had a wonderful time!

Here comes Peter Cottontail...

Hoppin' down the bunny trail...

A Silver Anniversary

Happy 25th wedding anniversary to
Uncle George and Aunt Angie!

We had a great time at their beautiful anniversary party.

Ellie & Wavy are the best of friends.
They are so cute playing together,
and both just adore each other.

Silly faces!

This is one of my favorite pictures of the year!
Just a photo that captions such personality in my little one!

For all my treasures

To improve our time getting ready in the mornings,
the kids have good morning charts.  For each task (brushing teeth, go potty, hug mommy, etc)
they earn a sticker.  When their page gets full of stickers,
they 'cash' that in for a prize!

Their prize today is a wooden treasure chest for each to decorate and paint.
Then they can hide their own treasures inside!

We love paint, and all of the different colors.
They were very intent on layering the colors, so the boxes turned out more brown and orange
but you can still see different colors peeking through.

The paint pallet worked great!
Just a strong piece of cardboard, and the kids were able to share the colors well.
I'll have to remember this for all of our future projects.

Once the treasure chests are dry,
the kids get to hunt for treasure (rocks and shells) and keep it in their rooms.
It was a great prize for a full sheet of good morning stickers!

Get 'scrappy' with it!

Ah, a future scrapbooker!

.
Wavy loves any type of craft or project.
One of her birthday presents was a scrapbook and all the fixin's!

We printed out some of her pictures,
including some of her favorite things and a whole roll of
old school film that she took pictures of all by herself.
Now she gets to work on her book!

As a scrapper myself, I had lots of scissors, stickers and paper
from my scrapping days.  Wavy was happy to play with her new stuff as well as some from Mom's stash of goodies.

I think we'll be working on this project for a month or so,
but she's loving every minute of it!

Playtime at Pappy's

We spent a wonderful day
enjoying the outdoors at Pappy's!

The kids love to fish and to look at the ducks in the pond.

We just love playing with our cousins!
Shelby & Tanner were wonderful hosts for an outside lunch!

Harlan even helped Pappy with the yard work...

He is quite the helper when he wants to be!

Tale as Old as Time

"A dreamy far-off look,
and her nose stuck in a book..."

She fell asleep reading Beauty & the Beast!
I still fall asleep reading, and I hope that the love of reading is instilled in my children
as much as it is a part of me.

Locks of Fun

One thing that we do well is hair cuts!
Harlan is a rock star in this department,
always sitting so still and never fussing.
I have heard so many horror stories of little boys
getting hair cuts, but not this little one!
He is reminiscent of a little old man,
sitting in the chair and asking the hairdresser to dust off his neck!

Wavy prefers for momma to trim her golden locks!
I do not mind this at all!  It's an easy trim, even though this time
we did cut a couple of inches.  It will grow back so fast. She loves to pretend to be Rapunzel!

Common Interests

They both really wanted to go outside...
