Mummies & 'lil Monsters

On Sunday, 'Mummy' and Waverly went to our friend's house for "Mummies & 'Lil Monster" play date! There were some very cute spooks there!

Waverly had a blast playing with Garret. They would keep switching toys, sharing just like big kids.

Aunt Amy and Cousin Tanner were there. He was dressed up like the Incredible Hulk.
Strong Man, Tan Tan.

All the mummies and 'lil monsters!
There were five little ones at the play date! Waverly was a pumpkin, tutu and all. Tanner was the Incredible Hulk, Garret was a skeleton, Annie was Annie Oakley and Anna was a bumble bee. The kiddos were adorable!
We had such a nice visit. The food was devilishly tasty and the company spooktacular!

Little Annie Oakley!
She even had spurs for her boots, to match her pink gun and cowgirl hat.
Waverly loved being at Annie's house. Annie was really great about sharing her toys.
The little pumpkin!
Waverly was happy with all her treats! She played with an Elmo book all the way home, reading it to Mummy.

All tired out. This pumpkin was all tuckered out after another big Halloween day.
She is such a sweet treat though!

Trick or Treat?

Happy 1st Halloween!
On Saturday, Waverly went trick-or-treating!

Why is nothing in here yet?
First stop, Aunt Phyllis' house. Brad and Philly had so much fun playing with Waverly. She crawled all over the place. She found Mr. Pumpkin, who giggles and shakes and wishes a big "Happy Halloween". She loved him!

Waverly was delighted to play with the cats and her buddy Landon.

Having a good conversation?

Up next, we went to Aunt Connie's house. Waverly took a little cat nap in the car and was raring to go! She was happy to see more pets, giving her love to Puppy and Cappy.

Waverly showed Aunt Connie all her tricks. She did the 'Waverly Crawl' and then showed off by sitting up on her own. Every time she sits up, she looks around to see if we are watching, and she expects applause!

Cute Tricks!
My 'lil Pumpkin loved wearing her tutu. She would feel of the material for a minute, but then move on like it was old news. There were too many other things to play with!

Waverly received several books for Halloween. We enjoyed reading them all. She loves turning the pages and 'reading' all by herself. When we read together, she listens so intently and looks at the pictures. That's one smart cookie!

Trick-or-Treat,
I'm so sweet!
The Loot...
Waverly had a great Halloween. She has so many new books to read. She also received bubbles, stickers galore, two rubber duckies (complete with Halloween costumes!), hair bows and some Gerber snacks. Even Mommy and Daddy got some candy!

Many thanks to all for the treats!

8 Months Old: So Cute, It's Scary

8 Months Old...

My darling Waverly is 8 months old today. She is such a pip!

She has a wonderful personality, all bubbles and sparkles.

Everything makes her grin. She will giggle and laugh just to make you smile.

This morning, Waverly was in a great mood! She was wearing a new little outfit, complete with tutu, to celebrate being 8 months old! She has learned so much, even in the last month. She can sit up on her own now. If she is playing on her tummy, the next thing you know, she will be sitting up with a toy in her lap. She seems quite proud of herself!

Waverly is still doing her own interpretation of crawling! We call it the "Waverly Crawl", which is a version of creeping along on her tummy, flopping one leg up in the air and kicking along to scoot across the floor. I think the official term is 'combat crawl'. It sure is cute though! She gets to where she wants to go - and FAST! She will get up on those knees and rock, but hasn't gone ahead to crawl on them. She will also get those feet up under her and make an arch. I think in the next few days, she will take off walking on her hands and feet like a puppy!

Yesterday, Mamaw Gail came to visit. Since she lives farther away, she brought some trick or treat gifts early! Waverly has severl new books, a bucket full of baby food and a sweet little Halloween card!

Waverly loves reading books. She follows along just like a big kid! She knows to turn the pages, though sometimes she wants to go backwards and read that page again! Her favorite this week is "Pepper Picks a Pumpkin", in honor of upcoming Halloween.

My Little Mover & Shaker

Waverly is fast! She zooms around in that walker like she is in a big hurry to get wherre she's going! And once there, she will play like there is no tomorrow. Then she's off again!

Waverly can pull herself up to a standing position! She likes to stand up to take a look around. She has great focus, and I do say she is a determined little child. Once she gets something in her sights, she sticks with it until it in her hands!

We have great baby conversations now, too. Waverly rattles off a stream of her words, with "da-da" a favorite choice. Then she pauses and waits for you to say something. Once you do, she's babbling away again. She makes sure to take turns chatting, and listens to what you say before she responds. It is adorable!

Last night, Waverly had a good conversation with Mamaw Jean!

They were playing with some toys and chattering away. Then after some sleepy sighs, it was off to bed. Waverly had the best day!

Lazy Day for You and Me

Waverly loves to play with Daddy's hat!
We had a lazy weekend! On Friday night, Mommy, Daddy and Waverly had dinner with Papaw, Mamaw, Josh and Sarah. We just love visiting with everyone. Waverly had just woke up from a late afternoon nap. It wasn't long before she was playing with everything and trying to sneak a drink of everyone's water!

Mommy and Waverly stayed home all day on Saturday. We played and played. Waverly had lots of floor time. Out of all those toys though, she'd still rather play in the laundry basket! We watched a couple of movies and took a couple of naps. It was so nice to have lots of cuddle time!

Her sheepish grin... just like Daddy's!

On Sunday, Waverly and I went shopping for some baking ingredients. We had big plans for making Halloween treats! Waverly chose some great cookie cutters and Halloween sprinkles.

At home, we made rice crispy treats! This was Waverly's way of helping!

Hat on, Hat off, Hat on, Hat off...
Since Waverly likes Daddy's hat so well, we bought her one of her own! Her new game is to put it on, take it off, throw it down, wait for me to pick it up, repeat. Oh, to be young again!

Pique-A-Beau

Did you know? Peek-a-boo was originally French Pique-a-Beau, a signal used to indicate unhappiness with one's mate. Well, there certainly isn't any unhappiness around our home! Little Waverly makes sure of that.

Her favorite game is definitely peek-a-boo. She has it mastered and down to a science. She knows that her face needs to be hidden, rather by lifting a jacket or toy in front of her face or hiding in the pillow.

She knows that we are still right there, watching her and waiting. If you listen, you can hear her giggle in preparation for the pop-up surprise! She will wait a few seconds... long enough of a pause that you may think she has forgotten the game... and then...

Peek-a-boo!
What a little charmer! She has the biggest grin, knowing that her playmate will respond with those magic works, Peek-a-boo!

Just can't get enough!

Mamaw Gail giving Waverly some cuddles!

Who me?

I've been informed that Waverly is a little instigator at day care. Ms. Sandra was telling me just the other day how Waverly likes to scoot over to the other children and play. She will get their attention with a tug on their pants leg or a yank of their hair. When they retaliate though, she gets mad! She doesn't like for anyone to tug on her short sleeve!
Gee... I just don't know where she gets that from...*ahem, Daddy!*
Waverly loves all her little friends though. She is a sympathy crier and will begin to whine and fuss whenever one of her friends is upset. She has two little boys in her class. I wonder if she plays "pique-a-beau" with them?
She can be a little flirt, that's for sure!

Down and Dirty!

Waverly likes to play for a little while after dinner. Last night, she wouldn't even let Mommy clean her face before taking off for the toy basket. Silly girl!

Pumpkin Pickin'

On Sunday, Daddy, Mommy and Waverly went to Gallrien Farms to pick pumpkins! It was a wonderful day to spend with our little family. The weather was very warm for this time of year and we enjoyed spending most of the day outside.

The farm was wonderful! First, we visited the petting zoo.

Waverly just adores animals, so this was right up her alley. We saw Llamas, sheep, a calf, and miniature horses. Waverly wasn't scared of anything! She would stretch that little arm out to pet the animals.

She especially loved the baby calf!

So sweet...

Up next, we visited the store. There was a giant pyramid built of straw bales for kids to play on. Since Waverly is a bit too young for that, we just let her sit around on the decorated store front for some picture time. She just didn't know what to think about all those pumpkins!

Mommy's 'lil Pumpkin

Ooooo, la la

Laughing at the other kids. Waverly loves to people watch!

We talked Daddy into playing a game! He used a sling shot to shoot little pumpkins and gourds into the field, aiming for the scarecrows! What fun!

Then it was time for our hay ride!
We piled onto the horse drawn wagon, settled ourselves down on stacks of hay and off we went to the pumpkin patch! The horses were so large! Waverly wasn't scared at all. She laughed and laughed at the young girls riding next to us.

The horses were so well-behaved. They knew exactly where we were going, having walked the path many times. The driver said, "Let's go, Boys" and off they went, taking our crew to the pumpkin patch.

The pumpkin patch was huge! There were so many pumpkins!

Waverly chose her pumpkin and Daddy picked it off the vine. We ended up with two pumpkins, all ready to be carved up for Halloween.

Playing with Daddy

Our Pumpkin is sweetest of all!

Laughing out loud!
Something sure was funny!

Waverly discovered hay on the ride back from the pumpkin patch. She was highly interested in her strand of straw!

It did not taste good though!

Our pumpkins weighed in at 7 and 8 pounds!

We were all tuckered out after our big pumpkin adventure, but Little Waverly was out like a light! She fell asleep on the way home and then took a well-deserved nap! Now we just have to carve up some pumpkins for our little pumpkin to enjoy!
