There's a Nap for That!

With Mommy going back to work soon, both kiddos are going to be staying with Nana Pam.
Harlan's first day at Nana's was exciting...

He has fallen in love with this bouncy chair.  Its his favorite activity... to watch the jungle animals and the waterfall as he drifts off for a snooze.

Harlan was good for Nana Pam and big sis Waverly was glad to have brother with her.  Mommy sure is going to miss the little ones!

Dora Calls!

We have been so very excited for Waverly's birthday surprise!
Waverly's favorite character is Dora the Explorer.  She watches Dora every day and has so many Dora toys we could open our own Dora museum.  For her birthday, Dora called to wish Waverly a happy birthday!

Two-Two Cute!

For Waverly's actual birthday, we planned a Mommy-and-Me day!  We started off our adventure with breakfast at Frishes, which is Waverly's favorite place to eat.  She had pancakes and eggs and biscuits!  Then we had to put on some shiny lip gloss...
After playing make-up with Mommy, we went shop-shop!  Waverly wanted to go to Wal-mart... surprise, surprise!

We met Daddy for lunch and Waverly showed him what she picked out at the store.  Surprise, surprise!  Another Dora doll!

Waverly had Daddy help her fix Dora's hair...
While she stole a drink of his soda pop!

Later at home, Waverly and I made her birthday cupcakes!
She loves to bake in Mommy's kitchen!  We made Strawberry Lemonade cupcakes, complete with a straw decoration.  Waverly gets so excited to pour in the ingredients.  She is very patient and a good helper!

We had a spaghetti for Waverly's birthday dinner.
She had a great day!

Papaw's Baby Girl

I just can't believe Waverly is 2 years old!  She really enjoyed her birthday!

I be TWO!

When you ask Waverly how old she is going to be, she always says,
"I be TWO!"
She tries to hold up two fingers, but sometimes she holds up four!  She's a cutie.

She was very excited for her birthday party.  We had the party at Gattitown this year.

The Birthday Girl

Waverly was super excited for her "Dora the Explorer" party.  Since Wavey has declared "I no like Dora" (which is code for "I actually love Dora and am obsessed with her"), we decorated everything with Dora stuff for her birthday.

Mamaw Gail made Waverly's birthday cake!

Wavey even wore her new Dora outfit to the party!

Reaching high for her birthday balloon!

All Waverly's friends came to her party...

Caleb, whom Waverly calls KK, and his mom, Caitlyn.

Mamaw Jean and "brudder" Harlan

Aunt Amy and Tanner

Josh, Katie and Benelli

Renae & Sophie

And Liv!

Roxy came too!  Waverly and Roxy are best friends!
So many people came to Waverly's party.  She is very loved to have so many people care for her!

After visiting with our friends and family and eating some pizza, it was time to sing Happy Birthday to Waverly!

Waverly was a little shy while everyone sang to her...

She did great blowing out her #2 candle!

Then it was time for presents!  Yay!

Waverly didn't mess around when it came to opening gifts!
She loved all her new toys and clothes.  She must have enough Dora toys now to open her own Dora museum!  She was showered in gifts for her birthday.

Thank you to all for the birthday wishes and gifts.

After a bite of cake, it was time to play in the game room!

Vrooom, vrooooooom!

Waverly's favorite game was driving the cars around.  Unfortunately, I think she gets her driving skills from her momma.... but Daddy will teach her when she's older!

Shiftin' gears!

Tanner liked driving too, he just preferred different wheels!

We sure do love our Birthday Girl!
It was a fun party and we hope everyone had as much fun as we did!  Waverly loved it and thanks everyone for coming.  What a great celebration!

Two under Two!

When you have two kids under the age of two, moments where they are both asleep side by side are rare!

For just a few more days, we can say that we have two kids under the age of two!  On the 27th, my little Waverly will turn two years old!  Looking back over the past two years, I can honestly say we have been the luckiest parents to have been blessed with the sweetest little girl.  Waverly is growing up, but she is still sweet, loving, funny and smart.  I love spending every day with her.

Waverly is a good big sister to her brudder.  She loves Harlan so much, and he loves her too!  She is the first one to check on him if he cries.  She gives him his plug and pats him on the back.  Harlan will just smile at her, already adoring his big sis!

It can be very difficult to manage with two kids under two, but these little aww moments make it all better!

This is what cute looks like...

'Nuff said.

Play Time!!!

Harlan loves to play!
He prefers this bouncy chair over his swing; maybe because he is able to lounge and still reach his toys.  He has learned to reach out and really shake those rattles!

Rattle & Roll!

Harlan is happy to entertain himself!

Maybe he wants to take up boxing lessons?

Tiny Expressions

Harlan's little expressions are so very sweet!

I love this little face.  He looks like he is just in awe about something... Mommy's good looks maybe?

My pouty face.
Harlan has become a pro at the sad, puppy eyes and pouty lips.  This picture doesn't do it justice.  Its impossible not to hug him!

Yep, we're tired.
These pictures were taken at 4 AM!

But no matter the time of day (or night), Mommy can usually coax a grin out of this handsome fella!  I think he was proud of himself for getting Mommy up at 4:00 AM.  Little stinker!

Where'd Wavey go?

Waverly is a master at playing hide-and-go-seek.  She will hide behind a blanket, curtains, a box... just about anything.  Then she asks, "Where'd Wavey go, Mommy?" and I have to find her.
As this game gets played often, many times throughout the day, Waverly must have tired of it and come up with a new twist.  Putting her fingers in her ears, she ran over to me and asked loudly, "WHERE'D WAVeY GO?"
Bahahaha!  Silly Wavey!

Back to Nana's!

Since Mommy has to go back to work in just another week, both Waverly and Harlan are going to Nana Pam's house!  Waverly has been staying with Nana a couple of days a week and Harlan has been visiting in the mornings with Mommy.

Waverly is excited that her brudder is going to stay with her during the day!

Harlan is excited, too!
He likes to be in Nana's room where his pack-n-play is and where he can listen to some country music.

Waverly is so happy that she gets to go to Nana's house and play with her bestie Roxy!

The girls love to do projects and art together!

Snack time!

We are so lucky to have Nana Pam to watch the kids during the day while Mommy and Daddy work.  We hope Harlan likes going to Nana's as much as Waverly does!

My Lil Ballerina

Waverly recently began ballet classes!

Mamaw Jean takes Waverly to ballet class every Saturday morning.  Waverly has so much fun learning to be a ballerina!  She is showing much improvement in her steps.  She likes to practice during the week, showing Mommy and Daddy how to stretch and warm up with little muses like the "mouse" and "elephant" (while sitting down and reaching for your toes, walk your fingers out quietly like a mouse, and then pound your hands back toward you for the elephant!).  Her favorite thing to do is the "butterfly", which is where she sits with her feet together and then moves her legs.  She's mastered that technique!

Waverly is doing well taking instructions from her ballet teacher, Ms. Kelsey.  She twirls in with her arms stretched high all the time.  Waverly is also learning to dance in her tap shoes!

2 Months Old & Growing

Two Months!  Already?  Yep!

Harlan has grown a little bit over the past month!  We have regularly gone to the pediatrician to check his weight and to see how he is doing.  After thinking the poor fellow might have colic, or acid reflux, or a number of different issues, we have decided to put him on soy formula and he is doing much better.  We hope that he continues to do well!

Harlan is such a strong little man!  He can hold his head up so high for a long time all on his own.  He loves tummy time and he can even roll over from his belly to his back!  Harlan is paying attention to his surroundings all the time.  He smiles in response to our smiles, and Waverly gets the biggest grins out of him!  He coos and 'talks' to her as she reads him stories and sings him songs.

Harlan's favorite toy is his bouncy chair.  He is happy to play with the toys on the 'baby gate' or just lounge around for a bit.  He has started to really reach for those toys and he looks so proud of himself!
Daddy taught Harlan how to stick out his tongue!
Its so cute to see father and son play together.  Harlan is a fast learner.  He likes to mimic the expressions he sees.
He sure is growing up fast!

Waverly-ism

As Waverly's 2nd birthday draws nearer, we are getting ready for her party and getting excited about what a big girl she is!

Waverly makes us smile all day long with the things she says and does.  I thought I'd share a few Waverly-isms.  These are random things she has said or done that I'd like to remember...

  • When I was almost due with Harlan, Waverly walked by me, patted my baby bump and said, "Cute baby, Momma" and then kept right on walking to her room.  It was adorable and oh-so-sweet!
  • After her shower at night, I always lure Waverly out of the tub by telling her that I will dry her off just like I do Crissy-dog.  She stands still for a quick dry with the towel, then says, "Wavy cold!  Wrap up!" I wrap the towel around her, including up around her hair and off she toddles, saying, "Wavy cold! Brrr!"
  • A few nights ago, Wavy was getting ready for night-night.  I asked if she was sleepy and she says, "I need somethin' to eat!" (This was one of the first full sentences she said).
  • Having two kids under two is stressful.  On one of the days when we were all at home, Waverly came over and gave me a BIG HUG and says, "I got my happy, Momma".
  • Waverly has been doing great at Ballet class.  She all the time will practice her ballerina, which means spinning around with her arms up.  She squeals, "I dancin'! I dancin'!"
  • When Waverly sneezes, she often asks for a tissue.  She's started to pretend sneeze, too.  Instead of saying "achoo!" she pretend sneezes a "bless you".  Hilariously adorable!
  • Waverly has learned to count... 1...2...6...11! So proud of her counting!
  • Waverly loves Harlan.  She keeps a close eye on him, and if he's taking a nap or playing, she will go and look for him.  Any time they are apart, she asks for her brudder and will sometimes cry for him.  She is the best big sis ever.
Waverly is almost 2.  Its so hard to believe.  She is my proud and joy.

We are excited for her party and to share the day with our birthday girl!
