Kisses for Da-Da

Kisses for Da-Da!

Harlan is a Momma's boy, but he sure does love his Daddy too!
He is into everything, just like Dad.

Ah, the men in my life.  I wouldn't trade them for anything.

*I want bonus points for catching a couple of smiles from Daddy.  He is a tad camera shy.  Go Mom!

Definition of a boy...

boy (n): noise with dirt on it

Harlan was just as happy to sit in the grass for a bit by Harley.  Harley gave brudder a quick hello and settled down to watch him play!

What is it about boys with mud and rocks?
They couldn't be happier playing in the dirt!

Counting Cheerios & Chasing Cheerios

Seems like everyone has a different approach to the cheerio!

Wavy spent her morning counting cheerio and placing each little O in a line.  She is really into her math right now.  She can count to 10, but seems to dislike the number 3 (ahem, just like her momma!).  She is learning so fast!

Harlan is the most adorable mess I have ever laid eyes on.  He preferred to gobble up his cheerios!  He is working on that tiny grasp, which is way too strong for such a wee man.  He gets most of the little O's in his mouth, but as you can tell, they get everywhere!  His new favorite game is to watch for our little Crissy dog to walk near him, and then he can drop bits of food for her.  He likes this game much more than Momma does, and Crissy too!

My Little Pony

This weekend, we had family fun at the Burgoo Festival in our hometown.
It was crowded, busy, and lots of things to see.
Harlan had fun looking all around at all these kids and people!
Wavy was very excited to see the ponies!

She did such a great job riding her first pony!
She wasn't scared or timid or nervous at all!

Daddy walked right beside her as she made her laps around the "arena".
She kept her balance well though!  She loved her little pony!

Brudder was only a tad bit jealous he didn't get to ride, but he cheered Sis on, and he can have a turn when he's bigger!

Pumpkin Paintin'

Time once again for the annual Burriss Pumpkin Painting Party!

There were a ton of kids and family this year.
Everyone played and jumped and ate snacks and painted pumpkins.
Wavy did a good job of painting a pumpkin for both her and brudder.
Since Harlan wasn't feeling too well, she did all the painting for us.

All of our little friends had fun too!

Annie
Emery and her Daddy

Tanner

All the little babies, and the big kids too, had a good time!
Every year, these pumpkins get cuter and cuter!

Technological 'Ombies

With the technological advances of today,
no one of this generation will ever have to experience
the sheer terror of dialing up a crush on a land line
only to have their parents answer the phone.
Not sure if that should be depressive or just plain funny.

Even at just 2 and a half, Waverly is already an expert with a smart phone.
She can unlock the screen, make calls, play games and text.
Her favorite thing now is to snap a picture and then tell us "I'm gonna put it on facebook..."

Her favorite game to play is on daddy's phone.  Its about zombies.
She is actually pretty good, but she evicts all the people from the town too.

*Disclaimer: Waverly does NOT have her own phone.  She is (obviously) pretending to use facebook.  She will play games and everything else, with permission, on our phones.

Big Boy with a Big Boy Cup!

Harlan loves to drink out of a regular, big boy cup!
He gets so excited when I hand him his cup, with no lid, and just a little bit of water.
He is actually really good about drinking from it and not spilling too much.
It sure is fun to learn something new!

Rub-a-dub, Just relaxin' in my tub

Who doesn't love bath time?
Not one of these kiddos.  Harlan gets so excited every night when its bath time!

He has just learned how to make a really good splash.
Now we all get a little drenched at bath time!

But doesn't he look innocent?

 Or just rotten?
He is all over the tub now-a-days.  He wants to stand up and walk around, sit down and crawl, roll over and basically just do all kinda of things that makes Momma's heart worry!
We keep a hand on him at all times since he's a wiggle worm.

Rockin' his first Mohawk!

Sleeping Beauty

If I do say so myself.... beautiful!

Babies in Beds

Snug as bugs in rugs!
Both kiddos are enjoying their new rooms,
and their toddler beds!

Harlan is too little to sleep in the toddler bed all night,
but its perfectly suitable for him to take his early nap while Momma is up roaming around.
He likes his little bed!

Wavy likes her new room too!
She still wants to lay with Momma or Daddy to go to sleep, but then we almost always take her to bed.  Toddler teleportating!

Wavy still gets up in the middle of the night and wanders into our bedroom.  We love having our cuddly babies to snuggle with at night!

9 Months Old & Growing...

9 Months!  9 Months? 9 Months!
So, Harlan is now 9 months old, just as long as the time I carried him as he grew to be my baby.  Time really does fly...

Harlan is such a smart little fella.  He can find all his favorite toys now, when we put them back in the right spots!  He doesn't really understand clean up, but big sis and I sing our clean up song and help Harlan put his toys away.  His favorites are any cars and trucks and tractors.  He finds lots of other things to get into, too!  His favorite no-no's seem to be cords, swinging on cabinet drawers, emptying the kitchen drawers, and un-folding laundry.  He's all boy!!!

Momma taught Harlan a new game for him, one that originated with big sis Wavy about his age.  We like to pass the pacifier, known to us as a 'plug', back and forth.  Its like a sweet little kiss, that always gets a big smile.  Harlan likes to share, even things that probably shouldn't be shared, like soggy graham crackers and bottles of formula.  Silly goosey!

Harlan has really picked up on the concept of talking this last month!
Now he is babbling and jabbering away.  He can say "da-da" and we think he is saying "doggie".  He definitely thinks he is talking to us, so we just keep on talking to him!  He will be competing with big Sis to get words in really soon!

Harlan has learned so much here recently.  He can clap his hands (when he wants to!), give high fives, and get a hold of just about anything! He is crawling so fast, you have to chase him around!  He is pulling up on everything, cruising furniture, and letting go to stand on his own.  I expect first steps in his near future!

We are so proud of our darling boy!

You found me again!

While cleaning the kitchen, I could hear brudder and sis playing so well together.
Coming to investigate, I found both kids playing hide and seek in a big box.

Wavy would duck down in the box,
Harlan would stand up to "find" her,
they would giggle and laugh,
then repeat!

At first, neither kid knew I was watching.
Wavy was hiding and each time Harlan would find her,
she would say "You found me again!" and he
would squeal with delight.

Then they caught sight of Momma and had to make funny faces for the camera.
Too cute!

So much fun, all from a box!

Peek-A-Boo!

Best Game Ever!

Harlan just discovered he can play peek-a-boo too!
Now that he knows he can hide, he is all the time using blankets, toys, clothes, anything he can find to play with!

So proud of his new game!

You found me again!  Yay!

In loving memory

Gary "Go" Bailey, age 56, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at St. Joseph East Hospital.
We will miss Go-Go!  He was so very good to us and our family. He loved our momma and us as his own children.  It is with heavy hearts that we say good-bye.
