Operation Big Kid

Hoping to encourage a happy transition to sleeping in their own rooms,
we redecorated the kids' rooms in designs of their choosing (from a pre-selected
collection) and bought new bedding.
We figured out a night-night routine,
and before we knew it, night one of "Operation Big Kid" was a go...

Both kids have always slept in my room.  I am an avid supporter of "do what works" for your family.  Co-sleeping was what worked for us and we've loved it!
Now that the kids are growing and the bed seems to be shrinking, it's time for them to move to their beds.
The hope is that they would start to put themselves to sleep without momma laying down with them for a couple hours every night.

So, night one...
We read books.  We have night-night snacks.
We go potty.
We tuck the kids in snug as a bug.
And then we tell them they have to stay in their rooms and go to sleep.

Well, it took a little bit of time.
There was some crying and some very persuasive arguments
("But you'll forget about me!!! ~ Wavy).
Harlan sat in the doorway of his room and stared at us with his angry eyes.

But, soon enough, both kids fell asleep!

Operation Big Kid has been a success!
Now we just have to stick with it!
