Baby, Its Cold Outside...

Brrrr....
It was so chilly outside this weekend!
Waverly still wanted to play outside some, so we donned hats and gloves for just a bit!

We went out on the deck to look for Waverly's cows!  She likes to look for her "moo-moo's" and if we can't find them, she tells us they are "over the hill"!

Too cute in her hat and mittens!  Mommy told her she was just like Papaw, wearing his hat and mittens on a cold day!

Santa Clause is Comin' to Town

Guess who came to visit in our town?  Santa!

Of course, Waverly and I had to go see Santa Clause!
He was going to be at the new toy store in Lawrenceburg, so we got all dressed up and went to town.  We added our name to the list of children waiting to see Santa, and then explored the store.

Waverly made herself right at home in the dress up room!  She loved all the girly things in there to play with.  They had a tote full of dress up clothes, high heels to match and the cutest little chairs to sit on.
Waverly liked the mirrors on the wall, too!  They were the perfect height for her to see into!
We eventually did make it out of the dressing room to investigate the rest of the store.  Waverly liked playing with all the toys, but she was more excited to see all the other kids.  She gave a little girl a hug and she played nice with everyone.
When it was our turn to see Santa, Waverly turned shy again!  Mommy had strong suspicions this would happen, as Waverly usually takes a little while to warm up in a new environment or when she meets new grown-ups.  Waverly didn't want to walk into the winter wonderland or pet the reindeer.  With Mommy holding her, we did get a quick picture.  (*Will post later!)
Santa was very understanding that Waverly was shy and wished her a very Merry Christmas anyway!

Instead of talking to him, we will write Santa a letter to tell him Waverly's Christmas wishes...

Daddy decorated our mailbox again this year so Santa would be sure to stop by!
This is one of Mommy's favorite decorations because it used to belong to her grandmother.

We wrapped up the evening with dinner at Mamaw and Papaw's house.  Waverly looked so adorable in her Christmas dress!

It sure was a festive weekend!
Now we can't wait for Christmas to hurry and be here!

"Daddy's Broke"

Friday morning, Mommy and Daddy woke up bright and early to go to Louisville for Daddy's hand surgery.  He had the left hand operated on a couple of months ago and now it was time to fix the right hand.  The surgery is for carpal tunnel release.

We arrived at the hospital at 5:30 in the morning!  Luckily, Papaw Dean volunteered to keep Waverly so she didn't have to wake up as early as we did.  The nurses immediately set up their IV's and Daddy was prepped for surgery in no time!  The doctor's came in to see if we had any questions and then it was time to roll!

Daddy was back to the recovery room in no time!  The surgery took about an hour.  The doctor had to work a little harder on this hand, but there were no complications and the surgery went great!

The after picture...
We waited for just a bit in recovery and then it was homeward bound for us!  We napped all day long so Daddy could rest.  We are happy to report that his recovery has been good!

Waverly was so happy to see us that afternoon!  We told her all about Daddy's boo-boo.  Now she tells us repeatedly, "Daddy's broke!" and points to his casted arm!

She likes to play with the pillow that we took home to prop up Daddy's arm.  She thinks its a hoot to look through it and make funny faces at us!

Daddy is doing great so far!  He'll have his hand and wrist bandaged for a few weeks and then he'll see the doctor for a check up.  We are glad that both surgery's are behind us and we are so thankful that Daddy's hands are feeling better already!

I have a heart, said the Tin Man

Thursday morning, Mamaw Jean took Mommy to the doctor for our regular appointment. This was a longer appointment because the doctor had ordered some tests.

Because of gestational diabetes, the doctor ordered an non-stress test to check on Baby Harlan. The test was very high tech, consisting literally if a tin can and spoon! Nurse Julie set the fetal monitor and we listened to Harlan's heart beat. He knew something was going on, because he settled right down! Every 10 minutes, nurse Julie would beat the can with the spoon near the baby bump! The goal was to startle Harlan and watch his heart rate. He did text-book perfect for each of the three times the loud noise came! His heart rate would rise and fall as it should. We were proud of our 'lil man!

After our fancy testing, Dr. Looff came in. He checked and Mommy was still at 3 cm. Dr. Looff said it would still be awhile! He ordered another non-stress test and an ultrasound for next week's appointment. So far, everything looks great and Mommy and Harlan are doing fine! Just a couple weeks left!

All In Due Time

It's been quite a week for us! On Tuesday, Mommy had contractions all day long. By 4:00, the contractions were regular at 20 minutes apart. I called the doctors office for instruction, and was advised to go to the hospital if contractions became every 10 minutes apart.

Later that evening, contractions did come every 10 minutes and Daddy took Mommy to the hospital. Once there, the nurse set the fetal monitor and we listened to baby Harlan's heart beat. The nurse checked and Mommy has dilated to three centimeters!

After an hour, the nurse checked again and we hadn't made any progress. It was decided this was false labor and we were sent home to wait.

Contractions slowed down and now are back to being completely random! It seems that Tuesday was just a long day, causing the contractions to come often. Now, it's just wait and wait! We'll be pleased to meet Harlan, but all in due time!
