Mother & Baby

This morning was another doctor's appointment!  The 16 weeks (and 4 days!) along appointment went fairly well.  First up, another trip to the business office for some financial planning.  Then, right in to see Dr. Ashmun!

Dr. Ashmun asked how I had been doing, which aside from last week's headache and fever, has been great!  We chatted about normal pregnancy things, including diet and exercise, pains and being tired.  I have only gained 1.5 pounds in the last four weeks!  That's exciting news!

Up next, we checked out Baby Bean with the fetal heart monitor.  I love hearing that whoosh-whoosh of baby's heart beat!  Baby's heart beat was still in the 160's and sounded wonderful.

Since Waverly had a rash a couple weeks ago, we thought it best to run some blood work to be sure Mommy and Baby Bean were all okay.  It was off to the lab for me!  After that fun stuff, I was finished for the day!

The next doctor's appointment is scheduled for Tuesday, August 9th!  This will be a big day, since we are scheduled for an ultrasound.  Everyone, guess your guesses!  If all goes as planned and baby isn't camera shy, we will find out if its a boy or a girl!  Waverly will be thrilled with a baby brother or sister, but I just can't wait to tell her!

First Kicks!

Papaw finally got the pool set up... most of the way!  In true Lickliter fashion, that didn't stop anybody!  We had to go ahead and jump right in, Waverly included!
It was her first time in a BIG pool and she LOVED it!

Waverly had not been in such deep water before.  She didn't fuss about her fancy bathing suit or anything.  She was just happy to be in the pool!  Mamaw Jean helped her "walk" around so she wouldn't float away!

She gave Mommy big smiles and told me all about being in the water (since I didn't actually get in the pool this time).  Then Papaw showed her the cold water from the water hose!  She thought that was a fun trick!

Her first "swim lesson" was a success!  Waverly didn't mind to lay back and kick those feet a mile a minute!  She kicked and kicked!  She loves to splash the water and she even tried to sneak her face in and blow bubbles!

Later, Waverly played on the swing set while Mamaw and I sat chatting on the porch swing.  All of a sudden, Baby Bean gave Mommy a good kick in the tummy!  I've been on the watch for any movement lately, but was still surprised to feel that bump rolling around!
Who would have thought that both my kids would have some new kicks on the same day?  We sure are lucky!

Holy Guacamole!

At 16 weeks, Baby Bean is now the size of an avocado!

Watch what you say... tiny bones forming in Baby Bean's ears mean that s/he can now pick up on voices!  Go Baby!  That hearing trick is a nifty one, so work hard this week!

Baby Bean is also busy growing eyebrows, lashes and hair!  Plus, another handy sense, baby's taste buds are forming.

Mommy is doing great this week, after a trying headache for a couple of days.  I have a doctor's appointment for this Friday, so an update will be sure to come!

Mommy's Little Helper

Sunday's are usually the day of the week that Waverly and I do our grocery shopping, laundry and house cleaning!  This Sunday was no different!
After a quick trip to the store, it was back home to work, work, work!

Of course, Waverly took some breaks from all the cleaning to play on her lap top...
But Mom kept her busy most of the day...

Dusting...

 And sweeping the floor...
She's very thorough, you can see...
Waverly did really well with helping Mommy as this Sunday, we raged a cleaning war of attack on our house.  We dusted and swept and vacuumed the rugs.  Then we did dishes and all day long, we kept the laundry going!  We were both tired and ready for night-night!
Hope all is well and that everyone enjoyed the weekend!

The weekend must end sometime...

This past weekend sure didn't last long enough!
We could have used a few more days tacked onto to this one!

Thursday night and Friday, Mommy didn't feel very well with a temperature and a terrible headache!  Daddy took care of Waverly, and she took care of her baby dolls!  She had a blast "feeding" her baby after eating her yogurt...

After resting up on Saturday morning, Waverly and I had a fun afternoon at Aunt Amy's for a play date!  There were several little kids there, all having a blast on the deck with all the toys and play gyms!
Tanner thought this lawn chair made a good trampoline!  Silly boy!
Waverly had the best time in this little car!  We will have to find one for her.  She couldn't wait for her turn again!
Then she discovered the chickens!
So all the kids wanted to look at the chickens, and then practice crowing like a rooster!  Those little ones are so cute!

After a great kid-friendly dinner, complete with chicken nuggets, mac-n-cheese and fresh fruit, it was time to go home for a nap!  We had a great play date!
