Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...

Over the last week, we have had snow days and icy picturesque scenes out our windows. Because of the lovely, yet dangerous, ice, daycare has closed a couple days and other days been on a 2-3 hour delay. Waverly has enjoyed her snow days!

Waverly loves the Christmas tree and opening presents. While at home last Thursday, she opened several gifts and Mommy had to re-wrap them! She had fun taking 'pictures' of Mamaw Gail with her princess camera!

Oooh, "Look"!
My favorite new words are "look" and "touch", and my favorite thing to get into is the Christmas tree! The baby has consumed our world, as you can tell, judging by the Elmo and Sesame Street wrapping paper that was a must have this Christmas!
In other news, Waverly is now eating 3rd food baby foods! That means meat! She likes Turkey and Gravy with rice and veggies. She wasn't so sure at first, but now she gobbles it down! Mommy is excited to try some finger foods - carrots and apples!

On Thursday, Waverly enjoyed her snow day with Mommy.
We baked some pumpkin gingerbread muffins...

made some homemade cookies...

wrapped some presents...

but mostly played and played!

My First Vacation

The first vacation for our little family...

This past weekend we left for Gatlinburg, Tennessee, the truck fully loaded with little one included! We were so excited for Waverly's first vacation. She did really well!

Strategically, we planned to leave home close to nap time, in hopes that Waverly would sleep about half way there. She did take a good nap, but we only made it to Lexington before she awoke. We played for a little bit and then took off again! This time, we made it down the highway only one or two exits before stopping in Berea. Waverly had lunch and then it was time for nap #2 of the day.

Playing driver during a pit stop!

After only a handful of stops, we made it to Gatlinburg!

The traffic was nothing like I remember from previous trips - this year, we moved right along with only minimal traffic due to construction. Waverly enjoyed all the Christmas lights as we made it to our hotel room.

The first night, we took it easy and just settled down into our cabin. Waverly loved exploring a new place! She crawled all over and was thrilled to stand up and cruise around the huge ottoman. Mommy's favorite was the fireplace...

Trying something new - scrambled egg whites! Not so sure I like that...

Waverly was excited to see the Titanic exhibit. Mamaw and Papaw came too! The museum was very well done, with much history of Titanic and artifacts from the ship. Waverly enjoyed singing while the historians were telling us stories from the ship. It kept us smiling while listening to such tragic events. There were exhibits where you could feel how cold the water was and touch an iceberg! Unfortunately, no cameras were allowed inside, so you will just have to take my word for it that the grand staircase was beautiful.

Waverly had a ball at dinner time. We went to Fudruckers, one of Mommy and Daddy's favorite restaurants. Mamaw and Papaw joined us. Waverly had so much fun helping in the 'bakery'.

She emptied the box of Marshmallows for the bakers, then moved on to crunch up some rice krispies!

It was truly a family vacation, since Mamaw and Papaw were staying nearby in Pigeon Forge. We took turns checking out each other's cabins. Waverly even stayed with Mamaw and Papaw for a couple hours to let Mommy and Daddy go shopping! She crawled all over the room and had fun with her new squishy toy.

It sure is Christmas!

Waverly loves Christmas already! She is all about trees and decorations. She practiced saying her new word, "look", as we drove past all the Christmas lights!

Breakfast at Flapjacks
Papaw carted Waverly all around the restaurant to see the sights. What a pretty fireplace!

Let it Snow!

It snowed all the way home! It was very pretty, but it wasn't long before the roads were a bit slick. Because we heard that the highway on Jellico Mountain was congested with traffic, we bypassed it and went AROUND the mountain instead of up and over!

While we were taking the 'scenic route', we did stumble across an interesting piece of history. In 1994, a train carrying troops wrecked. This memorial stands in honor of the 130+ soldiers who lost their lives and the 36 soldiers injured from the derailed train.

The sign says, "She Jumped the Tracks".

After the detour, we got right back on the interstate and had a safe trip home. Daddy is such a good driver that Mommy wasn't even nervous on the way home! Waverly slept almost the whole way, but after the long ride, she was glad to be back home!

What a great vacation! Its hard to travel with a wee one, but worth it!

Rough - N -Tough

Over the past few days, Waverly has not felt very well. She has had a terrible virus that has upset her tummy. However, we are very lucky to have such a happy kiddo. She doesn't let on that she isn't feeling her best. She just smiles and laughs and plays right on!

My first cracker!

Waverly didn't know what to think about her first cracker. She took a big bite

and then decided she liked it!

Our little one has been pretty tired lately, which is just part of being sick. She always throws one of those chubby legs over when she sleeps. Its simply adorable.

Do I look sick to you?

Posing for a picture!

Waverly has toughed it out for several days now. She has been such a happy baby to be so sick. On the second day of being ill, Mommy took Waverly to the doctor. We say Dr. Cooper and really liked her! Waverly had lost only 3 ounces since her last appointment. She hasn't felt like eating much since her tummy is upset. Dr. Cooper gave her a good look over and pronounced her fine, just a little virus. If she stays sick, we will bring her back for another look.

At the doctors' office...
Waverly can have some pedialite and some baby yogurt while she's recouperating. She had a fun time at the pediatricians and then helped Mommy shop at the pharmacy.

Play time!
Tomorrow Waverly will stay at home with Mamaw Jean. They will have a great time playing and napping!

Feel better soon, Waverly!!!

It feels like Christmas...

Christmas is fast approaching! We are in full Christmas swing; decorating here and there, shopping every day and wrapping gifts galore!

We put up our little tree and decorated with white and blue this year, honoring all the pretty snow outside. Waverly loves the lights and ornaments! She just ooo's and aaa's whenever she enters the room. Her little face lights up and she reaches out! Her smiles shine brighter than all the Christmas lights.
Waverly loves Mamaw's blue and red tree too!

Waverly helped Mommy wrap some presents... She even found one under the tree for her!

Its cold outside and the snow is beautiful, yet just cause for staying indoors! Waverly and I watched some Christmas movies, including How the Grinch Stole Christmas and ItalicAlvin and the Chipmunks. We also listened to several Christmas albums, which Waverly sang and danced along to. She is so cute, standing up and wiggling!

Waverly also went to see Santa Clause! She didn't stay long enough to tell Santa what she wanted for Christmas, but Santa always knows! She really liked the reindeer!
