Birthday Balooza

This past week was our birthday balooza, with two big birthdays in our family. Mamaw Gail, my mother, celebrated her birthday on Saturday, 10/16/2010. Since she went camping, we called her bright and early Saturday morning to send our best wishes. She was tickled!

On 10/13/2010, Tanner, my nephew, turned 1 year old! His big birthday bash was on Saturday. All the little ones were there to celebrate!

All of the children were invited to help Tanner open his gifts. That was such a great idea! Amy gathered all the cards and then turned the kiddos loose! Everyone was invited to open the bags and boxes and play with Tanner's new toys! He was so nice to share!

Waverly gave Tanner a big birthday kiss!

She just loved and loved on Tanner - they gave each other hugs and kisses all day!

XOXOXO

Tanner liked playing in his cake and making a big 'ol mess more than he enjoyed eating it!

He was so adorable with blue icing everywhere!

Waverly was very interested in this gift bag...

All the kiddos had a great time!

Papaw Allen has a bottle fed calf. He showed Waverly and let her pet him. She loves animals.
Little Red was just as interested in Waverly!

Looks like we'll be on the search for a baby calf for Waverly to raise!

It was a great day for a party. The weather was nice and the birthday celebration fun.
Happy Birthday!

Laughter is contagious...

Waverly is one happy kiddo! She loves to smile and giggle at everything!

Papaw's girl... that's how Papaw introduces Waverly to everyone! He just loves this baby! She is a bit spolied to him, too, always reaching out and giving him the big smile. Her favorite thing to do is chew on Papaw's expensive watch - and he lets her with a big grin on his face! Here she is trying to send the message that we really like his truck... by taking his keys!!!

Let's go ridin'!

Waverly now loves to play mockingbird. She likes to sit in her walker while Mommy is cleaning and then laugh out loud, and I mean LOUD. Once she sees that she has my attention, she will grin and wait for me to laugh back at her. Then I will laugh, so she laughs. The other day, we must have taken turns laughing at each other for an hour. Oh, the joys of childhood...

Sneaky, sneaky little girl...

You didn't know Mommy was watching you...

Caught ya!
Waverly loves drinking from a 'real' cup! Daddy taught her how to drink from a water bottle, too, so now your drink is never safe! She will do her best to get a sip!

What's up? I didn't do it!
Miss Chevious!!!

Bahahaha! You are so funny!

'Tis Near Halloween

When witches go riding,
and black cats are seen,
the moon laughs and whispers,
'Tis near Halloween!
(vintage postcard greeting)

Oh, October! Fall is here and it is our favorite time of year. The beautiful leaves make for such pretty scenery and the crisp fall air is welcome after the heat of summer. Halloween is near, which has always been a good cause for celebration around our family.

On Saturday, Daddy, Mommy and Waverly visited Papaw Allen and Grammy Betty for the annual pumpkin painting party. Waverly had a great time, painting her pumpkin in her own special way!

My footprint...

Painting my way!

Cleaning up!

Papaw Allen painted Waverly's pumpkin for her - pink of course!

Hanging out with Papaw.

Waverly had a great time!

Waverly and Annie, playing together.
The children all enjoyed the day very much, playing together,
getting messy with paint and just generally enjoying being outdoors.
Escaping children!

Tanner and Waverly

Tanner and Waverly played together for a little bit.
Tanner was so good about sharing his toys with all his friends.

Mommy and Daddy painted a pumpkin for Waverly!
After the big pumpkin party, we set off to visit my cousin Katie. She was having a family reunion for us all, and also celebrating the purchase of her new home. We had a fantastic time visiting with loved ones and touring Katie and Josh's new home. They have done well for themselves, finding a quaint little home settled in the country. Its perfect for them - and their little one due next May!

Waverly laughed and laughed at Mamaw Burriss. She played peek-a-boo and had all kinds of funny tricks to get those giggles out of Waverly.

Both of them were just delighted with each other!
Not too long now and it will be time to trick-or-treat! In the meantime, Happy Haunting!

Bite Me

Tooth No. 2 has broken ground!
This past weekend was tons of fun, but Waverly's second tooth was coming in. She took it all in stride and was her happy little self. She once again refused to have even one bite of jar food while teething, though!

Shopping with Mommy.
Waverly loves to ride in the cart like a big girl. She prefers to twist around so that she can look over her shoulder and see where she's going, instead of facing Mommy to see where she's been!

We have re-discovered the swing!
Thinking that Waverly was now too big and too old to enjoy her swing, I had moved it back to her bedroom (Waverly spends all her time with Mommy in our big bedroom, so her room is used mainly for storage right now!) With teething, Waverly fights sleep and hadn't napped very well this day. So, out came the swing. She was happy to recline and swing while she watched Elmo, her favorite! It wasn't long before she drifted off to dreamland.

Teething Fairy or Teething Monster??? Poor Baby!

Showing us her little teeth. Can you see that white speck on the bottom center? Her second tooth is right next to it!

Smiling!

Ahhh, relaxing!

Look Again!

For parents, a child is such a wonder, full of individuality and their own tiny personalities. Dean and I often agree that while Waverly definitely takes after us in many ways, she is her own little person.

My mom has been quite insistent that Waverly looks just like I did when I was her age. Nonchalantly agreeing, I just brushed it off, thinking that my beautiful daughter looks like, well, herself! So last week, my mom brought several pictures of me around Waverly's age. If it weren't for a little time on the photos, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference!!!
