My Lil Ballerina

Waverly recently began ballet classes!

Mamaw Jean takes Waverly to ballet class every Saturday morning.  Waverly has so much fun learning to be a ballerina!  She is showing much improvement in her steps.  She likes to practice during the week, showing Mommy and Daddy how to stretch and warm up with little muses like the "mouse" and "elephant" (while sitting down and reaching for your toes, walk your fingers out quietly like a mouse, and then pound your hands back toward you for the elephant!).  Her favorite thing to do is the "butterfly", which is where she sits with her feet together and then moves her legs.  She's mastered that technique!

Waverly is doing well taking instructions from her ballet teacher, Ms. Kelsey.  She twirls in with her arms stretched high all the time.  Waverly is also learning to dance in her tap shoes!

2 Months Old & Growing

Two Months!  Already?  Yep!

Harlan has grown a little bit over the past month!  We have regularly gone to the pediatrician to check his weight and to see how he is doing.  After thinking the poor fellow might have colic, or acid reflux, or a number of different issues, we have decided to put him on soy formula and he is doing much better.  We hope that he continues to do well!

Harlan is such a strong little man!  He can hold his head up so high for a long time all on his own.  He loves tummy time and he can even roll over from his belly to his back!  Harlan is paying attention to his surroundings all the time.  He smiles in response to our smiles, and Waverly gets the biggest grins out of him!  He coos and 'talks' to her as she reads him stories and sings him songs.

Harlan's favorite toy is his bouncy chair.  He is happy to play with the toys on the 'baby gate' or just lounge around for a bit.  He has started to really reach for those toys and he looks so proud of himself!
Daddy taught Harlan how to stick out his tongue!
Its so cute to see father and son play together.  Harlan is a fast learner.  He likes to mimic the expressions he sees.
He sure is growing up fast!

Waverly-ism

As Waverly's 2nd birthday draws nearer, we are getting ready for her party and getting excited about what a big girl she is!

Waverly makes us smile all day long with the things she says and does.  I thought I'd share a few Waverly-isms.  These are random things she has said or done that I'd like to remember...

  • When I was almost due with Harlan, Waverly walked by me, patted my baby bump and said, "Cute baby, Momma" and then kept right on walking to her room.  It was adorable and oh-so-sweet!
  • After her shower at night, I always lure Waverly out of the tub by telling her that I will dry her off just like I do Crissy-dog.  She stands still for a quick dry with the towel, then says, "Wavy cold!  Wrap up!" I wrap the towel around her, including up around her hair and off she toddles, saying, "Wavy cold! Brrr!"
  • A few nights ago, Wavy was getting ready for night-night.  I asked if she was sleepy and she says, "I need somethin' to eat!" (This was one of the first full sentences she said).
  • Having two kids under two is stressful.  On one of the days when we were all at home, Waverly came over and gave me a BIG HUG and says, "I got my happy, Momma".
  • Waverly has been doing great at Ballet class.  She all the time will practice her ballerina, which means spinning around with her arms up.  She squeals, "I dancin'! I dancin'!"
  • When Waverly sneezes, she often asks for a tissue.  She's started to pretend sneeze, too.  Instead of saying "achoo!" she pretend sneezes a "bless you".  Hilariously adorable!
  • Waverly has learned to count... 1...2...6...11! So proud of her counting!
  • Waverly loves Harlan.  She keeps a close eye on him, and if he's taking a nap or playing, she will go and look for him.  Any time they are apart, she asks for her brudder and will sometimes cry for him.  She is the best big sis ever.
Waverly is almost 2.  Its so hard to believe.  She is my proud and joy.

We are excited for her party and to share the day with our birthday girl!

My Little Valentines

Happy Valentine's Day!

The kids and I are so excited for Valentine's Day!  We have been doing crafts and projects.  Nana Pam is hosting a Valentine's Day party for the kids (and Mommy's!).  We made home made Valentines for all their friends.

Wavy has enjoyed doing all the art work and she loves hearts!  Painting is her favorite project, so we did homemade cards for her friends.  Since Harlan is too little to paint, we made little packages of "bear hugs" for his friends!

I am so proud of my little Valentines!  My refridgerator is proof!

Nana Pam's party was a success!  All the kids had a blast, lunch was fantastic, and oh, what an array of sweets!

Wavy was glad that her best gal pal Roxy (aka Rocks-y, when Waverly says her name!) was there to play.  Roxy's mom, Samantha, came for lunch too!

Roxy loved chessin' for the camera!

Caleb (dubbed K-K by Wavy) had so much fun playing with the girls and the baby boys, too.  He means business when its lunch time!

Baby Zane enjoyed some quality Nana-time...

while Mr. Harlan snoozed through the whole party!

Everyone had special valentines for each other.  Waverly was so excited to show Abby her valentine!

When we arrived at home, we opened up our valentines too!
There were so many sweet gifts from our friends and family.  The kids were as excited!
Waverly's lovely treasures

Harlan's Haul

By the end of the day, I was a little confused on if it was Christmas or Valentine's Day!  Its great to be so loved and spoiled!  I still say that I am luckiest of all... because my valentines' call me Mommy!

tummy time

How sweet is this baby boy?

Harlan loves tummy time! He much prefers to be placed on his belly. He will look at his toys and reach out for them. He likes when Wavy plays with him, too! She will lay beside him and talk to him, and he coos right back at him!

There's nothing quite like these little moments.
