Bringin' home a baby bumble bee... OUCH! He stung me!

That's right, folks! While its fun to be one, turning a year old brings with it another well check at the Peds office. So, off we toddled to see Dr. Spath! Waverly got to "sit in the boat" (also known as the baby scale). She weighed in at 25 pounds, 9 ounces, which places her in the 95th percentile. She measured 28 inches long, with is approximately the 70th percentile. The nurse let her try on the Princess Crown (also known as a tape measure!) and her head circumference was in approximately the 80th percentile. All in all, our little one measured up well!
Dr. Spath came in and was generally pleased with Waverly's health. We talked about nutritious meals and continuing Waverly on breast milk. We also received a sample of fluoride-free toothpaste to brush those tiny toothers with!
Then it was time for those awful boo-boo sticks!!!
Poor Waverly had three shots, one for chicken pox, one for Hep A and the third was the last in a series for the Polio vaccine.
Poor Waverly! She was so mad! She just couldn't believe that the bumble bee would actually sting her!

In the car right after leaving the doctor's office...
She was still mad, even her new book and dolly didn't make her feel any better!
She was asleep before we even left the parking lot, though, and had a real good nap and a dose of Tylenol for her troubles.

After the day I've had, I need the LARGE cup of coffee!

The girl knows what she wants!
Daddy felt bad for the wee one when he saw her Snoopy band aids! He gave her an M&M to make her feel better. She willingly took the orange candy, then gave us her best lemon face! It must have been good, though, because she wanted a blue one next!
(Mommy put the M&M's away after that!)

All Dogs Go To Heaven

Last weekend, we sadly said good-bye to a member of our little family - our German Shepherd Axel passed away. We think that his tummy gave out on him. It happens to big dogs sometimes. Axel was only 2 years old. He had a happy and fun life with us. We will all miss him and think of him often.
Bye, Big Dog...

Hey, Good Lookin'! Whatcha got cookin'?

Waverly thoroughly tested out her new deluxe kitchen!
She was quite happy to see all the pots and pans, play food (which she tried to eat!) and loves the noises on her little stove.
She particularly likes this pot and lid - which when banged together make an extremely loud clang for such tiny cookware!
After cooking, Waverly knows to clean up! She was all about using her dish towel to mop up her "pretend" spill.

Then she gave up and asked Mommy to clean too!

Eh, why not just have some McDonald's for supper?

Let's see what we can do about that... Calling Dada... Calling Papaw...
Hello? Drive-thru please!

Happy Birthday, Cupcake!

Our little cupcake is 1!
Happy 1st Birthday, Waverly!

Needless to say, we had a big party! Mommy worked really hard party planning and all my family helped out babysitting, baking and decorating to make it happen.
I was very excited on my birthday!

Check out my tutu!

Let's get this party started!

Waverly loves Balloons! Emphasis on Balloon, since she called it a "ball" all day long! She thought that was the best thing!

We had lots of veggies and dip, cheese and crackers and banana roll ups and pizza snacks! And...drum roll please... over 200 cupcakes! Mommy and Mamaw Gail worked hard baking and decorating. It was so much fun, and from what I hear, everyone enjoyed them!
Time for CUPCAKES!
Waverly's cupcake and candle said "Birthday Girl". We all sang Happy Birthday, led by Papaw Allen (thanks, Dad!), and when it was time to blow out her candle...
she ran for the hills!
Don't worry, Waverly, I feel that way on my birthday sometimes too!

With a little convincing, Waverly chose the smallest crumb of cupcake and took a bite.
Then it was on...
Yum, Yum!
Tanner and Waverly

Those two... can you be much sweeter?

Waverly with her bestie Roxy!

The girls had fun playing with each other for a bit. Roxy was kind to let Waverly give her dolly a hug! I think Roxy enjoyed coloring her picture of a cupcake and using her princess stickers!

Tanner liked showing the girls how to dance!

Time for the Pinata!
All the little kids had fun pulling the strings on the pinata! Each pulled and hoped that all the goodies inside would tumble out! I was surprised at how well everyone took turns. We've got some well-mannered kiddos!

Of course, they liked playing with the ribbons, too!

Yay! Fill those treat bags!

Playdoh, candy, and little toys!
Then it was time for gifts! Yay!
To make this quick and fun, we invited all little kiddos to join in and help Waverly unwrap her gifts! They were so great! Everyone unwrapped the presents...

even Papaw joined in!

Gimmee, Gimmee
and
thanks, thanks!

Papaw and Tanner unwrapped a dolly for Waverly.

Waverly with her other bestie, Annie
The girls were excited over this tea set - they just kept going back to look at it!
Annie, want to come over for a tea party?

Waverly's friend Landen did a great job of unwrapping things for her. Both he and Cherokee would unwrap a gift and be sure to show it to Waverly. Such great helpers!!!

Thanks to everyone for the wonderful gifts! Thank you cards are forthcoming, but not detailed due to the chaos of the moment. I can tell you that Waverly will be enjoying all her toys and clothes! She will think everyday is her birthday!
*Giggles*
Girlies... ok, we will schedule time for tea!

Thanks for showing me everything, Cherokee!

Surrounded...

Mine?

The kids had a blast!

Waverly saying bye-bye to Landen!

One last big present...

Tanner was waiting patiently for Waverly to open this one... And then he decided to help...

Yay ~ a play kitchen!

Waverly kept giving hugs to cousin Nic! She was lovey-dovey after some cake!

Waverly and Daddy... Daddy gave her a sticker to hold!
We would like to thank all of our wonderful friends and family for making Waverly's birthday bash a success. She had a great day and we all feel so loved!
Once again, Happy Birthday, little one!
